the n011m bars pesa+msa radar should be able to look more to the sides, around 90-110 degrees to the side
the bars radar is a pesa (passive elctronically scanned aray) radar which means it doesnt need to tilt a mechanicl physical antenna to scan an area therefore allowing a fast scanning speed, much more than a traditional msa (mechanically scanned array) radar, now the n011m bars radar utilizes both of these types of technology to be able to scan areas that are in extreme angles like 90-110 degrees to the side, by mechanically tilting the pesa radar to the side using a mechanical axis
currently in the dev server the radar cannot look to the sides at such extreme angles as it should be able to, and also pretty sure the scan time is fairly not up to standard as the real thing which takes very short amount of time (in the 0.5 seconds timeframe) to complete a wide scan area, currently in game i think it takes around 1.5 seconds or 2 to complete a 80°x7° scan area. correct me if im wrong on anything. thanks for reading this, have a good day/night
In dev server it’s currently using the su34s radar.
Regarding the scan time, pretty sure its simply the way PESA/AESA are modelled as of now, just super-fast mechanical radars really. Testflight Kfir c10 and see for yourself, its practically the same despite being an actual AESA, no strings attached. In any case, is scanning the entire 80x7 area in something like 1 second really not fast enough? They did say at some point that radar rework is on the horizon™, we’ll see how it goes when we get there.
Really? Does that mean Gaijin will make the radar later in dev or after release?
