Funnily enough, if you actually watched the air superiority/TSS tourneys, you would know that the R-77s are only used as a tool to make people notch, the ER is the main BVR weapon that’s used.
If a tournament player is up close in their team’s ‘dedicated BVR and capping’ jet then either it’s a 1v1, they have won, or something seriously wrong has occurred.
The only people in the ‘knife fight’ are Gripens/J-10s

Yeah the strat for those tourneys are to have 1-2 heavy fighters (su-27sm and finnis fa18c for example) to use their missiles to exert pressure and then for the fa18c specifically to use their cms to waste the other teams missiles, and then light fighters like gripen, j10 and mirage 2k for those close end fighting

no shit? thats literally what i said “the ER is the main BVR weapon that’s used” thats the only bvr weapon that is used lmao aam4s on the jm dont hold up to it, and its not a majority of the su27 kills either. r77s do the same jobs every other fox 3 do. EVERY fox 3 at that skill level is only used to make people notch, thats literally the entire gameplay kilss happen well withing the r77 effective range.

In order to do BVR you need a compliant, AFK target that will just headbutt your missile.
R-77 and the likes aren’t hitting anyone that’s maneuvering past 10-15km, let alone at true BVR ranges like 25-30km+.

Define maneuvering? Cause if by maneuvering you mean proper defensive maneuvering then that’s a thing for every fox 3, but if by maneuvering you mean light maneuvers then I disagree, r77s hit 15 kilometers just fine the problem is after that.
I never feel like I miss targets in the r77s that I would’ve hit with the aim120 at sub 20 ranges.
My main issue with the r-77 as is right now is more an issue with broader fox 3s that hits the r77s especially hard, at extreme close range fox 3s just aren’t accurate, for whatever reason they just miss at random I wager this is caused by the same issue causing notching to be extremely easy and helicopters being nigh immune to fox 3s, which is overly weak seekers overrelying on high speedsto track targets.
If r77s could properly function at extreme close ranges they wouldnt be much better but they’d be more fun.
It has better engines and a larger airframe witch allows some goofy shit to happen.
How exactly is this thing 13.3 in SB also with all those R77s, when the basic Su27 is also 13.3?
no? There are jets at 13.0 with fox 3 missiles, that alone makes them capable to deal with it
