Su-57's radar suite is actually better, F-22 is ageing badly. [Not Ragebait]

fraud hornet talk to me when you get above 1.00 TWR

TWR(ratio) ratio is for babies, just slap more missiles on it.

F18 is nothing more than a Imitation of a masterpiece

If the hornet wasnt good why did they make a sequel to it?

cause they had nothing else F18 was a stop gap to hold on till F35 came out

The f35 isnt sexy

no it is not F22N would be cooler
Sea Raptor: The Navy’s Sweep-Wing F-22 That Wasn’t to Be - The National ...

You might as well say the x wing would have been cooler

its just a F22 with variable wings and tougher gear and other carrier landing kit

Basically an X wing

how ?

Flys

What’s that? F-24 Raptorcat?
Amazing design !!

Isn’t variable geometry antithetic to stealth ?

If you wanna go into the semantics all stealth aircraft originate from a soviet paper from the 60’s or 70’s on Wave scattering that the soviet leadership disregarded as a gimmick (great mistake)

yeah the prorotype? and first f22 prototype " YF-22" 1990 so… 20 year diference…

and first f22 prototype " YF-22" 1990 so

It’s extra stuff you have to be careful about when designing the aircraft. More interactions between wings and stabilators/rudders, more gaps to take care of, besides all the extra maintenance that made the F14 extremely expensive to fly.

you could optimise the variable geometry to specific flight regimes

so you could put a focus on high speed BVR when the wings are all the way back and make it as stealthy as possible there and dont focus as much on when the wings are fully forward which will only happen on take-offs and landings and during WVR fights and imo you dont need a stealthy aircraft for landing or WVR
