that’s once again not how warthunder works seekes in warthunder go by templates not individual seekers all fox 3 missiles at top tier share the same template for a seeker with the mica simply having its fov stat changed
According to top u.s. officials it very much exists and has been in testing since 2020. Just because the U.S. has better opsec doesn’t mean its fake. lol
We don’t know. The aim260 is but a legend on the wind at the moment in terms of what civilians can find out. Considering contemporary missiles will have aesa and that the U.S. isn’t broke, it’ll probably have aesa or even a multimode seeker that has aesa and IIR. Whatever it is, they’re building a 6.5 million dollar bunker just to keep them a secret.
This is the only know rendering of the AIM-260. Must be crazy performance if they’re keeping this such a secret.
I mean 6.5 million dollars might be a drop in the bucket for u.s. spending but its still a 6.5 million dollar bunker just to keep it a secret. Now im just going off of rumors here but supposedly it has; some kind of multimode seeker, 50g pull due to thrust vectoring, and a new propellant and a longer multi pulse motor to increase range to over 200km. which sounds absolutely ridiculous considering it’ll be on the upgraded F22s.
Basically the F-15SMTD thing right lol, canards + TVC for dogfighting while having gnarly bvr performance
The super raptor will be crazy.
Not really, it’s just half baked
No Ramjet so it’s already somewhat obsolete unless they put a fusion reactor in it
Ramjet vs a pulse jet missile. I’m sure the department of war knows what they’re doing :)
Well given that 30% of that funding in going into someone’s pocket instead of the project, i’m fairly confident it’s delayed asf for a reason.
You don’t strap a missile motor to an SM-6 for nothing
You’re so right. You should be head of the department of war and all of the research and development that goes on. How could they totally forget to consult you on the future of air superiority smh
Different missile project
Thrust Vectoring on a BVRAAM 🤔
Criticising a delayed and flawed project earns kind of this response does it?
Its supposed to be derived from the aim9x’s thrust vectoring capabilities. and the info from the MM seeker project was supposedly fed directly into aim260s testing.
What response? I’m stating a fact. You should be head of the department of war. The R&D department needs your expertise. Maybe you can educate them based off your war thunder knowledge :)
Idk it seems impractical at best, i’d understand if they were trying to replace the Aim-9 series with a multipurpose ARH missile.
But putting TVC on a supposedly long range missile doesn’t achieve anything unless it’s meant to fill in for the lack of frontal control surfaces
Tbf that i think is what they’re doing for the new F22s. it seems they want them to be able to hold 8 aim260 since it will likely be just an all around better missile than the aim9/aim120. Though once again this is just rumors.
Well i appreciate the compliment, but if you’re going to defer straight to the childish ‘beat around the bush’ approach because I am not confident in the DoD’s ability to manufacture a new missile in the timespan that it would be relevant
Also i think this is sorta correct. same way the aim9x works.
What’s childish about my comment? I’m being genuine. You seem to know what you’re talking about. The department of war needs your confidence and consultation.
