so artifically nerf it to be the su30sm?.. the one we are getting… Just a better engine?
If it needs a better engine gaijin will probably give it the su27sm treatment and just give it the engines if its severely underperforming in game. But im fairly certain the su30sm will have enough going for it to be balanced enough to not require a further upgrade.
This is also not mentioning the elephant in the room: gaijin is within a couple years of running out of new vehicles to add to top tier. And the su30sm2 is the perfect platform, along with other aircraft of other nations, to introduce new mechanics to the game in a much larger update, while still leaving russia with future vehicles after said major future update.
the sm2 has many upgrades over the SM. Better missiles in all regards, better engines, and some avionics upgrades.
The su35 takes it even further in EW, avionics, and modern offensive equipment.
Do you mean R-37Ms? Gaijin can defer adding that. A lot of planes in the game don’t have their complete loadout too you know
Better engines is what I’m advocating for
Better avionics, is it mostly upgrade that improves navigations and whatnot? Or does russia have better rwr than L-150? (This is not a sarcastic question)
Precisely, the sm2 will be a great aircraft for russia when they add EW, like a header aircraft.
Su-30sm2: Also r73m, r77m, certainly ground ordinance.
Su-35: r74, the top secret successor to the r37m (probably wont know much more than it exists for another 4 years, but its their answer to the meteor missile), and a whole host of avionics and EW capabilities that the sm2 just doesn’t have.
yes, and also certain weapons integrations HMD displays, etc.
L150-35 and i would imagine the su57 has a different one with more antennas, but i cant find anything from a good source about that.
exactly, so why add the sm2. Theres just no reason to rush it, please enjoy the su30sm and appreciate it for what it is: The first 3d thrust vectoring aircraft in game and finally a russian top tier that can at least compete on even footing without requiring tons of extra “skill” to compensate for its lack of abilities.
TVC is good sure, but it’s such a nice gimmick that is more dangerous to use though.
Besides, meta is BVR anyways, and my advocacy for better engines would mostly push it to allow 30SM to actually catch up to EFTs and F-15E in climbing to ideal BVR engagement alt and ranges. With the extra speed allowing better missile flight characteristics
The R-77M is built/being developed specifically for the Su-57.
R-74 is an improvement/upgrade of the R-73M, not really a secret and is almost certainly not “their answer to the meteor missile”. Haven’t really needed to since the R-37/M existed long before the Meteor missile.
I probably was confusing. I wasn’t say the r74 was the answer to the meteor. Russia is currently testing a new missile to replace the r37m to out compete the meteor missile and any counterpart.
I don’t know of the name. We just know they are testing and developing it in conjunction with their new hypersonic series of missiles.
They have licensed the r37m for export and are allowing other countries to make them such as India. Which should be an indication of them feeling that they will retain an edge without being the sole builder of the r37m, which is only 6 years old.
From people that I talk to in my little part of the aerospace defense industry the US is aware of said development but truthfully I have no idea past that it is occuring. I’m not privy to anything past “we know it’s being made, and is being tested.”
I did some low effort math (ergo not accounting for engine loss and only accounting for manufacturer claimed thrust values and the other crazy maths like drag and etc)
Su-30SM is currently 18,400kg according to the datamine, with AL-31FP at 245.2kN (122.6 x 2) it would give it a TWR of 1.36 (with 50% fuel TWR drops to 1.08)
F-15E is 15,120kg with PW-229 outputting 259.4kN (129.7 x 2) at TWR of 1.75 (with 50% fuel TWR drops to 1.15)
EFT FGR4 (I just chose the British one because I assume PIRATE adds some weight) is at 11,220kg with the EJ200 outputting 180kN (90 x 2) with a TWR of 1.64 (with 50% fuel TWR drops to 1.24)
AL-41 would just give us 284.4kN (142.2 x 2) a TWR of 1.58 (with 50% fuel TWR drops to 1.25), so isn’t an engine upgrade fine for the current Su-30SM?
BTW all values could be lower because of thrust loss from ducting and what not
with 10% loss across the board + 30kg (oil mass, universal it seems) + 50% Fuel
Su-30SM at 23,230kg with AL-31FP (220.68kN). TWR of 0.97
Su-30SM at 23,230kg with AL-41 (255.96kN). TWR of 1.12
F-15E at 23,047.5kg with PW-229 (233.46kN). TWR of 1.03
EFT FGR4 at 14,805kg with EJ200 (162kN). TWR of 1.12
I’m definitely fine with a mishmash. But tbh, I don’t think it’s Gaijin fault if they deny it, they after all don’t want to unleash the wrath of a certain nation main
