SU30 with the AL-41 engine is literally from 2020. the PW 229 is an engine from 1989. and the f15e got has got it for 25/30 years (not sure when they started producing them with the pw229
21 su30sm2 were ordered in 2020. the FIRST ones were literally delivered in august of last year, f15e has been standard with pw229 for at least 20 years
absolutely not. thats base r77 range. r77-1 will likely outperfom amraam anything below <20 kilometers, whilst competing and having a better maneuverability over that. stop downplaying it, its going to be a great missile, definetly the most versatile
This horse is so dead why are we still beating it? You’re just wrong. I’m not elaborating, go read the forums and watch actual dev server fights with it on YouTube. the stat card is extremely reliant on a single perfect situation.
im not saying we shouldnt have the sm2 cause its too new, i was pointing out how stupid was saying t hat the f15e got “fictional engines” when hes advocating for the su30sm getting an extremely new upgrade.
i think sm2 wouldnt be particularly ground breaking, though it most certainly would be the best aircraft ingame by decent marging.
at mach 1.18 at 6000 meters there is like a whole second of difference for the r77-1 to burn against a maneuvering target. r-77-1 will be great stop downplaying it.
nah sm2 with al41 would absolutely dominate(not saying its necessarily a bad thing). r73s would be the worst part of the aircraft and theyre fairly good fox2s
It still doesn’t beat out the EFT with raw power alone, and you know how good the EFT’s turn is even with the nerf to high speed turns. But until we get the ingame values for it, we can only speculate
I personally see adding the 41’s as an action that will cause issues later down the road. The AL41 is the pinnacle of Russian engine design, and there is nothing past that save other variants of the same engine. Adding the pinnacle now will only cause complaints later on, with people likely complaing about “uughhh same engines no difference” for the next slew of Russian aircraft. IMO it is far better to save them for the Su35S, 30SM2, and 57 than add them a bit prematurely. The comparison to the 229 engines on the Strike Eagle is misconstrued as the engines were only an issue because the Israeli version was getting them while the American one was not. Now I could see the AL41’s being reasonable if say, China got a Su35S or whatever with 41’s and Russia did not. However, I see no reason to dimish the performance jump of future aircraft for the sake of a likely-to-be short lived (in game) multirole upgrade to the Russky Flanker fleet before we get the Su35S quite soon.
