SU-30SM AL-41 Refit

That drag will still kill it’s performance against something maneuvering. Missile will surely be better than R-77 and will be able to actually hit targets at 10km+.

I’m not downplaying it, I’m just stating what I see.
Raw missile performance indicates it’ll be better than 120B at closer ranges while still falling behind in longer ranges.
30SM is also pretty slow which further decreases the effectiveness of the missile, so the carriers should be taken into consideration as well.

It has lower drag than r77. And it has a better motor on top of that.

At close ranges aim120 is pretty useless in my experience(datalink helps ofc) so thats nothing to scoff at, and imo believe itll be better than it at medium range. Its pointless to discuss it too much as well see in a week’s time but imo itl be the most versatile missile in the game even more than pl12.

As it is right now its the best missile at long range

And the second best at close range

Yes, it’ll take 15km to fall out of the air instead of 10km on R-77.

Indeed.

R77-1 may be better against a non maneuvering target but it has significantly more drag than a 120. That will reduce bvr perfomance by quite a bit.

Probably yes, but at pure BVR performance it will be the best of them all

Has stronger motor too. If used properly at altitude and at speed itll likely reach 30km+ and hit a non defensive target consistently.

Mind you that amraams also dont hit often at those ranges, cranking and notchin is very easy when you have that much time

Maybe in “lab” theoretical scenarios which aren’t really applicable to the real match.

There’s more to the BVR missile than just tossing it from a certain altitude and speed onto an afk target.

Nah

The F-18C is the 3rd best airframe at 14.0, it’ll be far more than playable.
Like removing the HMD from a Typhoon, no real change.

@Leinadmix9_ツ
F-18A will be the first OP plane I actually hunt to play before it gets moved to its correct BR of 12.7 if it releases at its dev BR.

F18c will never be competitive at 14.0 10 amraams will not make up for the bad bvr airframe.

F18a will be hella broken at 12.3 lol

I agree, im just talking on pure performance at BVR, any player that makes synapses will notch it.

A plane that cannot go pass mach in 14.0 is DOA
And yes, F-18A is gonna be nuts for the first month or so

Su-30SM2s didn’t come standard with AL-41F1S until recently.

AL-41F1S being installed during production on SM2s is something much more recent (started within the past 5-6 months or so from what I’ve heard)

SM2 inherently means the AL-41 variant, theyre designated as su30sm in the airforce but the upgrade is the SM2 upgrade.

nobody cares the f100 pw 229 in the f15e is modernised engine too so the f15e one modernised f15e in the game without any mark. the su27sm get the improved engine just because… so no reason for why not get the su30sm any better engine

The first 4 Su-30SM2 units were delivered in January 2022…

Spoiler

According to pre-war plans.“…Completion of tests of the Su-30SM2 of the next stage of modernization, equipped with AL-41F-1C engines (“Product 117C”), is expected only by the end of 2023…”
As of 20025_ new deliveries and modernization of old ones are expected from 2025…
So for now, everything is with the old engines…

Not entirely, I don’t think any Su-30SM2s got AL-41F1Ss till late '24 and this year, the CEO of KnAAZ mentioned that Su-30SM2s w/ AL-41F1Ss (among the other two upgrade programs for other aircraft) would be something starting mainly this year.

Rafale is the best aircraft BY A LOT , with the gazillions buffs it got on the dev server INCLUDING the MICA BUFF, even if the SU30 gets the new engines. What are you even talking about? Let me guess USA main?

As suspected
