J-11a should have the N001VE MSA radar.
That is of course, for balancing reasons…
makes no sense. If i see doesn’t mean that i can engage. We don’t have the missiles for that. I needs like 60 km’s of range more, and HPRF modes
Would you rather have more info or less info?
That’s what i am saying i need more modes and more modes for further targets. Idc that i cannot engage at 150 km’s.
That was my point but I said it in a weird way, GAIJING modify these things based off 0 data, and N001 is better than what it is in game.
Is there a technical or historical reason behind not allowing Su-27SM to launch R-77 in IRST track mode?
Since in IRST track, you have both distance and speed information, i.e. you have the same information that you would have in TWS radar track mode.
So why would you not be able to launch R-77 while in IRST track mode?
absolutely not
Well, if you want to be ready for what’s to come yes
Other than that ? nope
9km acm and hmd, trash radar, 1 datalink channel, maw that’s pretty much useless because it will dump ALL your countermeasures and bad RWR… it’s just bad all around
Because we cannot launch missiles in Passive or Visual mode. What you are asking for is LOAL and would be implemented as far back as the Aim-7C if done correctly. I have a bug report on this somewhere that has gone unanswered with documentation for nearly 2 years.
Essentially if you launch in IRST mode you are running Passive or LOAL with zero guidance. Which isn’t currently allowed in game.
We actually had the ability to launch even the R-27 in IRST mode when MiG-29 was first added.
It was something that they intentionally disabled.
Now it might be realistic for R-27 given that it’s a SARH missile. But it doesn’t seem a realistic limitation for R-77 given that all you need to supply it with, especially when launching inside the active range, is azimuth, range and closure rate.
In fact even outside of the active range, I don’t see why you shouldn’t be able to supply the missile with the information you are receiving from IRST, through datalink.
Well we already have LOAL.
That’s how Fox 3 missiles are able to be guided using datalink, until they get into active range.
Which one should I do first, F16 or JH7A? I do want CAS but is the AIM7M at 13.0 worth grinding for, cause the mavericks do look quite good, and I need to grind through all the modifications, not sure how PL8s fare in 12.3 without radar missiles or great maneuverability.
Get the JH-7, probably sits at a more playable BR than the rest
JH-7A is a fun plane but if you never played an f-16 then get the f-16mlu. But f-16 mlu’s 13.0 BR is kinda bad rn, 12.3 is better but you get 13.3 up tiers a lot too.
If there is a historical / technical reason to not allow the launch of R-77 in IRST track mode, can you at least implement an auto sensor switch, so that if you try to turn on the seeker of the radar missiles (R-77 / R-27) while you are in IRST track mode, it would automatically switch to radar track?
This would somewhat remedy the problem of 10km ACM/HMS range of the soviet top tier radars.
How is PL8 cause I have suffered enough of no radar missile crap last version in the J7E and PL5B wasn’t the best thing to use. I am also thinking about stock grind cause which is more helpful, full aspect or SARH?
PL8 is a basic 9L but is fast and pulls more. It is a good missile. J-7E and the PL5B are very good for their BR because of their extreme acceleration and short burn time. When you only have an IR missile, try positioning yourself behind the enemy during the first engagement and avoid getting spotted. Always help teammates with someone behind them for an easy IR missile kill.
I know that, but J7E’s respective BR is in the current version, not in the last where F14s flew around. I currently find IR missile incompetent especially as Mig23, F14, F4 and mirage, some of the most common planes at 11.0-12.0 range have huge number of flares and PL5B is just not able to lock on. Again the problem regarding short burntime comes into play when you realise that PL5B has a range of 5km but can only ensure a kill within 2.5.
PL-5B can definitely kill something at 3km; you just need speed and altitude. I usually fly at 3-4km altitude at a down tier or around 11.0. In up-tier games, try to fly low.
I’m done with J7E even though it is so good this version, I’m stockgrinding J8B so I am so annoyed about me trying to dogfight F5s and then a 9L or R60M comes out of nowhere. Also the radar is so bad that I can’t lock onto an F4 in a head on engagement.
I would try to avoid dogfights as much as possible, but I would only try to dogfight at the end of the game. Don’t use the radar on the J-7E; it is a range finder. Just keep playing, and you will have the muscle memory to look around more. You have many countermeasures, so it wouldn’t hit to drop flares when you are focusing on someone.
