Meanwhile it will have no Ir missiles for CQC because it can only carry 8 missiles of total.
If Gaijin doesnt chance the multipath then Ir missiles will be still revelant.

True, but at the same time it can still use 6 AAM-4s and 2 AAM-3s which is still an amazing loadout. Not to mention the engine upgrades
The F-15J they’re going to get is not from 2017, it’s an MSIP from at the very latest 2003, and that’s if the MSIP they give us has the AN/APG-63(V)1. If not, then it’s an MSIP from, wait for it, the earlier 90’s.
I’d say exercise caution for this situation.
You might get dissapointed.
Furthermore, it’s unknown if it can even mount AAM-4’s on the wing pylons. If not, then you’re still only looking at 4X AAM-4 and 4X AAM-3.
The J variant did not receive many MSIP upgrades. The only two MSIP upgrades that allows it to carry the AAM-4 is 2010 and 2017, since wait for it, the AAM-4 came in 2001.
From the research I have done, there is no MSIPs in 2002-2010.
Also, the AAM-4 entered service in 99, but only started widespread production in 2001
The very first modernized J-MSIP first flew in 2003, and I’m talking about a modernized J-MSIP. J-MSIP started in 1985 with Block C6 aircraft and continued onwards through block C17. It was a gradual process. At most we are looking at an aircraft variation which first flew in 2003.
Fair enough, I do secede to that, but it is still a variant from 2003 onward, so my original point still stands.
Honestly, you can ignore the people crying about the year an aircraft was introduced into service. Introduction year means jack next to capability. If they wanna get all angry about it, let them, they’re only wasting their energy.
Agreed, good point m8
I do still hope they are planning on adding the AIM-120B/C and R-77-1
Oh same honestly. AIM-120A just would not make sense against missiles like AAM-4 or PL-12.
And the R-77 as well. Especially if you’ve played DCS you would know the capabilities of the PL-12 and the AIM-120C are on par, and the R-77 is extremely lacking
And I find it funny that the AAM-4 is literally engineered off of the AIM-120C and gaijin might not even add that
It was more developed off the AIM-7 Sparrow more than anything, since research started in 1985, and fullscale production only started in 1994, the same year AIM-120B was introduced and two years before AIM-120C was introduced. Not really fair to call it engineered off the 120C if the program started before the 120C was a thing. They do share some similarities, but they also have their differences as well, it being about as wide as the sparrow, and only 10kg lighter than it, while being nearly 50kg heavier than the AMRAAM. Still, I would have added the AIM-120C5 and R-77-1 at the same time as the AAM-4, but we’re not the ones making that decision, only the snail. We’ll have to wait and see what they ultimately have in store for us.
I do agree, but I do believe that as the time it came out was around the time the 120Cs came out they would attempt to make it essentially better or similar than it. The similarity to the 120C really is more obvious with the Pl-12 than anything I should have stated
Huh? The Japanese government gave out the plans and funds to upgrade 48 aircraft in that time frame as part of a 5 year plan starting from 2005 iirc
Yup, and that’s why I talked about the J-MSIP 2010
