just a quick post to draw some attention to the fact that the radar of these planes instantly loses lock when it ‘sees’ a single pop of chaff. This is a PD, and clearly not supposed to happen like this… kinda makes the 4-6 radar missiles which are the selling point of the aircraft a very moot point.

Radar lock with HMS is also bugged with the J-11 (and probably the SU-27)

Can someone explain to me what the deal is with how the radar is supposed to have 80km range but the interface won’t even PERMIT you to move the target selection cursor out to a range greater than 60km?

i think the range that it says there is detection range?
im not sure. otherwise i wouldnt be surprised if its a bug or innacuraccy
It is not even 60 in HPRF, between 60 and 50 you can only use TWS, under 45km you can STT which is ridiculous for N001 in clear weather conditions, uplook mode with no clutter you could push radar into 60km limit easily. Lookdown or notching? then 40km range is acceptable.
after several games I am finding that the TWS is struggling to maintain lock and also has continuous detection errors, both on the position and direction of the target

I’ve noticed this a lot with the Gripen too. I think radars are just buggy this update.

other defects that I am encountering are the fact that the radar struggles to lock onto targets even with the reticle beyond the field of view, which allows you to lock onto what is in front of you, I often use it to lock onto targets that come at me from the front especially at high altitude. the grid that is created is very extended upwards, which even comes out of the screen (which I find exaggerated and useless) but I often struggle to lock onto frontal targets less than 10km from me in SRC PD, in comparison, I have less difficulty with the mig-23ML which is older and has a smaller vertical scanning range
