They will eventually. Its not a reason for them to skip right to 2a8. Sweden already have the best lineups for leopards the best armoured Leopards. The only thing they’ll miss is APS
You realize the whole reason the 2a8 didn’t originally have Lws was because the odaeon system was in development and is now ready and was shown off but again go wait until it goes to troops.

Personally id prefer them to add the Strv-123A before a norwegian 2A8 simply because its a domestic tank and a 2A8 is just straight up not needed in the game yet

The strv123A realy isnt needed either for sweden. With the addition of DM53 to sweden which isnt domestic either the differences became lower and lower. The penetration difference L/55 with new ammunition brings aint that big anymore.
And for thermals you could have used the commander thermals the whole time as well.
The strv122 has over 30year old armor. But gajin doesnt believe we invented better armor since then and actualy thinks the 2a7V has worse armor then a tank based on 30y old trials. Since the strv123b is based on 2a7Vs.
In game the Strv123B actualy would have worse srmor then the Strv122.
They lose the side nera add on as well.
Only armor benefit of the Strv123 variants would be roof armor.
That additional side era armor on 122B+ practically offers nothing.
123B will be basically 2A7V plus roof armor which is quite the upgrade compare to previous generations.
You will get access to more advanced munition in time, better thermals while keeping the original protection levels (assuming Gaijin will finally fix the 2A7V protection level).
So yeah in terms of practice 123B will be better than 122’s.
Thats the big issue, if not the strv122 will be better armored.
About thermals, firepower you are right there.

Which as of right now any strv122 would be better armored then strv123b outside of the roof armor

True but considering Sweden is Gaijin’s favorite child when it comes to ground I believe all leopards will recieve armor fixes in the future.
Either both German and Sweden version will recieve proper armor values or Gaijin will pull out bs card from their pocket and claim that 123 uses newer and better armor package.
Yup, Strf 9040B onwards has APS, but every bug report on it gets shot down with a “It would raise the BR/this should be a suggestion on the forums” by the bug report managers, as if a BR raise is their decision, or that an APS variant isnt possible.
