Because, as you admitted above, and as I have said more times than I care to count, the 123A hull is an upgrade to the 122’s, and thus it doesn’t matter what standard they were upgraded to, bc it’s still a 122 hull with some added features.
Do you have any proof the 2a8 has actualy different armor then the 2a7V? Thats the core of the issue. Strv123B is a newly ordered 2a8 which is based on the 2a7. Not on a strv122.
And the strv123a being brought to strv123b standards for logistics those means a downgrade currently
Its the failure of the community, which gladly accepted the idea that 35 yo swedish tanks are better armored than up to date Leopards with newly designed and much heavier armor arrays. No one ever steps up when Gajin makes up things to shaft ingame Germany. Tech mods, comm…their interests are elsewhere.
Hence, they added that much weight to Leopard 2A7/8 that Germans decided to govern the top speed to 63km/h and design a new gearbox to make it work. Obviously all this to not even match the 3 decades older Swedish variants. Which still enjoy superior armor and full unnerfed top speed.
It wil eventually backfire when Sweden upgrades its existing STRV fleet to 123 (A7/8 standard). Then suddenly all new SWE tech tree additions will have worse armor and less top speed as well. What an “upgrade” :)

Similar to this 68 km/h restricion, same reason. Early Leopard 2A3 and A4 had something like 74 km/h ungouverned sprint speed in the early '80. This was governed down to 68 km/h, which was sufficient for peace time operations. A compromise to reduce wear, to reduce maintenance intervals and spare part requirements.

And the 2a8 is a “lazy” addition gajin can add to 2 and 3 total in the future nations.
Cause the french mbts literaly are dead, the XLR wont do much anymore, and for quite a while their best tank gonna be the dutch 2a8 (once the dutch get the 2a8)
Development wise for gajin, it just makes the most sense
Yeah idk, didn’t gaijin say they’d give everyone APS before adding more FnF munitions and then they gave everyone (except Sweden since they no use helicopters) FnF missiles with an average load of 16x.
