On what leopard varient is STRV 123A based on? 2A7 or 2A8 or something else?
Not known I think most would make the guess of its a 2a7+ spec area but I don’t think we’ll know for along time or maybe just until it goes to troops 🤷♀️

Not quite. The 123A is an upgrade to the 122, which is essentially a modified Leopard 2A5 (more accurately a Leopard 2 Imp). Because the Swedish military likes consistency, the 123A is supposed to be as close to the Leo 2A8 as possible so both 123 variants are as similar as they can be. There is also the issue of the Stridsvagns having more armour than the standard Leopards (afaik), so it’s difficult to match up the Swedish and German tanks.
If you want to match them up based on performance, then it would probably look something like this (this is a complete estimate, so don’t get too upset at me)
Stridsvagn 123A — Leopard 2A7V/2A7+/2A8 (but with the L/44 cannon)
Stridsvagn 123B — Leopard 2A8
The 123A uses a l55a1 just like 2a7V and 2a8 it’s mostly a modification based on the 2a7V or 2a7+
Technically not true there’s leopards in service that are more armoured the swedish leopards just used the addon kits what had been offered to many countries for instance the 2E and 2HEL are both examples of tanks who would likely be better armoured due to improvements in the hull composites (although Gajin doesn’t believe they are true so that’s why there’s issues with leopards armour)
