HISTORY
There were two and possibley even more variants of this left and used by norway, both with the 50mm cannon and the short 75mm cannon

Designer: Daimler-Benz
Designed: 1935–1937
Manufacturer: Daimler-Benz
German designation: Panzerkampfwagen III (Sd. Kfz. 141)

This tank was intended to be the primary tank of the German army, but when it faced enemy tanks like KV-1 heavy tanks and lighter T-34’s it was proved to be to have a too weak cannon to compete. and therefor recieved the more powerful 50mm cannon in addition so more armor.

This tank was developed in 1936-1937 and at the outbreak of World War II was Germany’s standard tank. A total of 5,644 wagons were produced from 1937 to 1943. The wagon was designed and used in the first half of the war as a pure combat vehicle with the main purpose of fighting other armored vehicles and tanks. During the war, this was also upgraded a number of times with regard to both armor and armament. In the meantime this was not enough, and in the latter half of the war it was mainly used as a support vehicle to fight positions. This was because it was no longer able to carry a powerful enough cannon to fight other armored vehicles. After the war, it was for a period in service in a number of countries in Europe, including Czechoslovakia and Spain

These wagons came to Norway in 1940. The wagons that were left after the war then came in 1942 with the German 25 Panzer Division. The Panzer division was established in Norway. After the war, a good number of these wagons were first destroyed by British forces, but in 1948 several of these were restored and put into use by the Norwegian cavalry. Most of these were then used by the so-called “Airport troops”, where they also served until the 1950s. Most of these wagons ended up as shooting targets in the 1960s, and 2 of these wagons still exist and are in a museum. Some were buried during training
