In my opinion, Soviet BR5.3, American BR 4.7/5.0/6.0, German BR4.3/7.0, Italy BR4.3, French BR4.7 are the easiest BR to earn event star. For British? Gaijin totally ruin it, only BR4.0 boat like Orla/Peacock can play.
HMS London, feeding on Murmansk-spam!
Just play coastal and farm the hell out of bots. Had a 24 kill game last night in the Dark Aggressor.
County-class cruiser‘s turret almost don’t have any armor, so it’s will suffered by Moffett’s spam SAP or other 5.3 ship’s AP ammo.
Can’t say that I’ve had more problems in London vs US destroyers more than any other 5.7 ship.
Personally, I think 5.7 is a good BR for cruisers now, becuase of not much uptiers due to so many Murmansks in the matchmaker.
Agree, BR 5.7 is a sweet point for cruiser now. In this BR have less opportunity to against battle ship, and 8inch cannon is enough to cause damage to 6.3 cruiser.
Strasbourg’s armor is now fixed on the dev server
Strasbourg:
bulkhead in front of the first primary turret: 260 → 228 mm
141 mm belt: 141 → 148 mm
I prefer Soviet 6.0 cruisers at rank V in RB for these tasks. Maximum score multipliers plus superior damage output over time compared to BBs result in stages getting completed in 4-6 battles, depending on the BB/cruiser ratio of each battle.
The Zheleznyakov is one of my all time favorite ships. Absolutely monstrous damage output at 6.0, maneuverable, fast, and a large crew.
It’s one of the most pesky cruisers to kill with Dunkerque/Strasbourg (while otherwise the class is excellent at killing cruisers)
You know, I don’t have too many problems with it, but I’m not one of those people who sails on a constant course at a constant speed. I’m driving it like a Formula 1 car.
Hey, at least County isnt as bad as York lol
If I’m in a hurry I shy away from higher BRs in these events, as I find I can often land salvo after salvo from start to finish and end up thinking I must have a good score only to find Gaijin say ‘200 pts and 600 dmg’ or something equally insulting. You need a BR where your ship can damage anything it will face, so low/mid rank DDs are good; for max multiplier start out in a Coastal vessel of the same BR as your DDs.
Last naval event I completed spading of HMS Leopard (4.0) and then spaded HMS Peacock and HMCS Terra Nova, (both also 4.0). Once I’d spaded Peacock I only used it on the few maps where it can do very well (otherwise it’s pretty average), but Terra Nova turned out to be a great ship for rapid points scoring and Leopard was a very good back up.
Thought I’d try spading HMS Blackpool this time around and run it along with a good selection of 3.7 DDs. However, I found Blackpool moderately ineffective (half firepower of Leopard) and, as I’d researched all the GB Coastal tree, the bonuses for researching each tier of mods would be wasted, so I stopped playing Blackpool and decided to switch to another nation.
I was reluctant to spend SL on crewing & experting the IT Albatros, as it looked an easy kill for any DD - Bluewater spawn, just a couple 76 mm guns plus Bofors for AA defence - but it turned out to be a great investment and made a good lineup with Aviere (prints SL) and Commandante Margottini. Being slow, the Albatros is usually somewhere at the back, so when the enemy fleet comes into view it’s the smallest and most distant target. In spading Albatros I see I survived to the end in half of my games, so didn’t really need the DDs for most progress towards the ‘star’ on those days. Very pleasantly surprised by the Albatros.
The German MTB, Jaguar (4.0), was the other one I finally finished spading after starting literally years ago. Certainly had a few very good games in Jaguar, but, in contrast to the IT Albatros + DD lineup, it was the 4.0 DD, Erich Steinbrinck, that did most of the work towards gaining event points. Like most light craft Jaguar is far too prone to ‘ooooh, unlucky player, all crew go dead-dead, woo wooo, maaaagic’ at the first burst of mg fire, if Gaijin think you did too well last battle or just for the hell of it.
Anyway, Strasbourg itself… yeah, I’ll be selling mine. I’ve been ‘overplaying’ Naval like a full-time job so that now all I need to do is collect 2 remaining stars and that will also get me to 750k and the upgrade coupon. I could probably have continued researching the French Bluewater tree and got Dunkerque for less effort than completing the event, but I suspect Albatros/Jaguar + DDs was more fun than endless games in Paris. And, from what most comments suggest, Dunkerque/Strasbourg just not worth playing until further decompression or a general ‘fixing’ of Naval. No need to rush research at the top of the French TT.
I don’t care if it’s good or bad , i’ll sell it ASAP , get the money and stop playing WT altogether until they bring something interesting as gameplay goes. From the things i care i have nearly everything i want in Air… i don’t give a damn about Ground over WW2 things and i find any gameplay other than Destroyers in naval worse than trash.
So yes, i’ll get the money for when i want to play again.
