There were alot other examples when Gajin introduced new main weapon systems which were op and without equivalent. Now it could be Germany’s turn.
I still remember when all got jets with Sparrows, while German Phantoms hat to go with just 9J’s. Or Germany got no plane with guided bombs for over a year while most others had access to this tech. There are indeed some of these examples.
So why not use the EF addition to introduce new systems? I don’t think that always US or Rus need to be the first ones to get new tech. For once it could be another nation.
I would argue that ER wasn’t really meta because you could just hug the ground. Real meta was IRCCM missiles and Gripens and F-16Cs dominated that time, not Su-27. I can’t say anything about ground, but when i checked winrate per nation - germany was the best at top tier ground, not USSR/Russia.
Su-33 fits in perfectly below the Yak-141 at 13.0/13.3 and wouldn’t be that much different from where the JAS39A, Mirage 4000 and others like it at that br.
Has the base Flanker model, slightly more powerful engines, canards for extra maneuverability at basically any speed, even more so at low (which is sort of a bad thing across all Flankers, but I digress), and 2 extra missiles compared to the base Su-27S it’s based off of.
It will be challenging facing other jets with Fox-3 every now and then, but it’s not impossible. So, no. Not DOA.
It is 3 tons heavier than a base flanker, so those slightly more powerful engines aren’t gonna make it better. Su-27 already bleeds way to much speed and turns into a flying brick, adding canards will only increase speed bleed because you will just pull more AoA. 2 more missiles are almost meaningless because of a simple fact that even 10 missiles on a basic Su-27 are more than enough for an average ARB match. ONLY advantage of Su-33 would be a digital RWR, and ONLY if Gaijin will model it this way. Even if Su-33 will be 13.0, Su-27 would still be a better pick.
