Storm Warning - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 2)

Latest Su-30MK2 in Chinese service have integrated PL-8B and PL-12 in some images.

it’s much faster, in fact, even AIM-7F is faster than AIM-120

R-27ER has superior kinematic performance compared to AIM-120A/B. So giving it an ARH seeker would make it the Fox 3 missile with the longest range ingame except the Phoenixes I think.

Kinda just a much faster Tornado with better missiles. I wonder if they will limit a MiG-31 to mach 2.8 or allow to go faster

My thing about the R-27EA isnt its kinematics but how will the seeker stack up to other ARH missiles?

I will say this too, after doing a little more research, I have a very good idea of what we’re getting in December.

It’s going to just be the Su-33, it’s going to be the 2010 trial version. It will have AL-31F-M1’s like the Su-34. It will have all the ordnance of the Su-27, and if they want to do a funny, Kh-31A or even the Kh-41 (air-launched Moskit), it will be pointless, useless, and we’ll get the Marineflieger treatment now too.

If gaijin has a heart, they’ll make the Su-33 the way it was marketed during trials which is with a PESA/AESA (so Bars, likely), and R-77’s, maybe R-77-1’s.

The good: While I’m still not convinced the canards are meant to/capable of be(ing) useful, no one will really complain about them. The AL-31F-M1’s are a done deal, so it should manage to fly like a slightly more nimble Su-34.

The bad: ARH’s will require semi-historical revisionism. We are yet again going to get Yak-141 treatment, if the devs are merciful. Even though the Su-33 will be a bottom bracket plane, like the Su-27SM, people will still complain.

The ugly: This plane could’ve released alongside the F-14B in mid-June of 2023, and would not have needed the ARH-revisionism to be balanced. Now the Su-30M has a limited case for being introduced at all into the game, and the Su-30SM will be delayed probably until June of 2025, or even as late as December of 2025.

Still holding out hope for the Su-30SM, but I’m not optimistic about the chances.

Same seeker as the R-77, different missile body. Think R-27ER, but no one has to maintain lock like an SARH.

Aren’t all the seekers for the fox3’s the same in the files anyway?

F-15 one of the best examples of a true 4th gen fighter. EX is 100% 4.5 but the C just has a new radar and missiles, the upgraded E is better contender for 4.5

and just because a plane wont fit into the meta like a puzzle piece doesnt mean it shouldnt be added, it is still a plane that i and others would love to see

Continuing the discussion from Next Major Update - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 1):

If we are talking about in-game F-16ADF with limited weapons, there can actually be an alternative for most likely similar BR in a form of F-104S.ASA-M.
Basically the same ASA, but with up to 4 AIM-9L/I-1 instead of original AIM-9L and no cannon.
Although as many players I’m absolutely fine with vehicles like Italian F-16, but still waiting for its capabilities to be upgraded (AIM-120 and AIM-9L/I-1 or M).

Ehh honestly hard lock R-27ER feels better than the R-77 imo the R-77 kinematics and seeker feel lack luster compared to the AIM-120

it’s very similar, except less lock range, AIM-120 get 20km and R-77 is 16km

R-27ER feels better because it has a more efficient design for BVR. The R-77 doesn’t have a seeker problem, it has a parabolic death curve of energy in the terminal phase due to ridiculous drag problem.

R-27EA would be an infinitely better missile for BVR specifically. R-77 might still have the edge in WVR combat, especially within 7km.

well this will be one of the first dev servers i will actualy miss and it looks like i might be an intresting one if the leaks are to be belived

Now give it Aspide Mk.2 to balance it out and enjoy.

I think the R-27EA might be a good introduction but like beyond 25km I feel like the larger issue Ive seen and felt is that not only do R-77s suck but soviet radars do too.

I would honestly be completely fine with just the R-77 or even R-27ERs if they added better radars (like the ability of PESA and AESA to fire multiple SARH I think would be a cool introduction as a different way to counter ARH missiles)

it’s the biggest problem for Flanker. R-77’s effective range is about 5km less than AIM-120 in head-on situation, not that big, but the radar is much worse. When I get a stable lock on TWS and ready to fire, AIM-120 is already 20km and locked

Dev blogs tomorrow surely…right??

soo… what you are saying is that the update is going to come after christmas because we have a month left before reaching 2025, ok got it. well bois pack it up, no devblog, no teaser, no devstream and devserver this week, maybe just maybeee… next week if we are lucky.

no guarantees…
