Storm Warning - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 2)

Agreed but the 18s old. I don’t think all the 18s are being replaced just a portion.

Y’all leave Fat Amy alone!

Also is the F-35B actually gunless lmfao?

Yep, only the A has the 25mm internal

I noticed that the missile model launched by HQ17 in the trailer seems to be 9M331, but I saw that the missile launched by HQ17 in reality is more slender and has different tail fins compared to 9M331. I think gaijin may have made the wrong missile for HQ17.

It can only use external guns cause of the VTOL fan.

Again this entire argument is still redundant as again we have no idea what C model they will add. MLU 2 makes sense as if they add it to Swiss then we get 2 near identical hornets in terms of not having CAS, but guess we just use the US argument to state they could mount them and just be given HARM and such.

Wait for the dev stream, should be able to see what kind of missile they put on it

Im pretty sure MLU 2 added CAS to Finn Hornets no?

Never used at all by swiss vs tested and integrated on USN F-18, and in operation with USMC F-18 (which it got as hand me downs from USN iirc)

It did but they never operated HARM. Using the US cope idea we can just say they could use them and be given them. (Really hope we dont see HARM soon but thats a different topic.)

Ahhh you meant HARM, well I dont see ARMs being added anytime soon with all the current CAS pushack

No, basically same in size and shape.

All Hornets delivered to the fins could mount HARM, they just had the avionics removed and later reinstalled and upgraded for newer weapons. Again this also comes with new engines and radar. This again relieas on whether gaijin adds the MLU or not.

Once they add the big SAM can’t wait for ea-6, and F-16CJ

So they got the necessary systems removed, but then got newer ones which may have been compatible? And did the fins even have HARM in their inventory?

Though i guess gaijin could just pull an Italian AV8B and give the Finnish and swiss hornets before the US so people grind those TT’s

Awful decision, a jet should ALWAYS come to it’s original manufacturer/operator at the same time or before anyone else, never after, av8b+ was one of the worst vehicle decision in a while

Nope, they never used HARM but their equipment can work with it. Good enough for gaijin. They can mount and use it so for balance they’ll probably get it

Just based on Wikipedia, the V2 is on a few (18?) F-15C airframes in USAF service. That’s AESA and I’d imagine it’s good. Like a few people including myself have laid out, it’s likely that the F-1X with AESA will be a part of the slow build to 5th gen fighters.

Su-34’s V004 and MiG-31’s Zaslon are both early PESA’s, but to get the next true PESA we’re talking N011M, the second (and basically production) Bars radar. In visiting my collection of books at home, and then purchasing a new book, this one on the Su-33, I can’t find anything conclusive about it ever flying with any modified radars other than to say that a much older Su-27K (the predecessor to the Su-33), the Black 305 I’ve mentioned a few times, did fly with something different. So technically a single Su-33 has flown with some sort of (probably PESA) radar upgrade, but not the version of the Su-33 that exists in Russian service.

An economically viable upgrade path for the Su-33 very possibly could’ve (and could still be) the VEP upgrade to Myech (N001). This would be the identical radar setup of the Su-27SM.

To give the Su-33 the N001VEP or the N011 would not be a massive change technically. I think your best argument for the YF-23 is still the Yak-141 itself.

I wish they’d conveniently find that argument again and use it for the Su-7. That thing is so damn hard to fly in GRB given there’s almost ALWAYS a MANPAD launcher on both teams.
