Storm Warning - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 2)

See, now the Su-47 is a lot more interesting, considering its forward swept wings

Isn’t it terrible at turning? I’ve also heard the wing structure wasn’t that stable, but I’m not sure, as I’m not a person that interested with such soviet vehicles.

Kfir C.10 and Kfir Blk 60 different battle rating if full options

Kfir C.10 - 13.7

Kfir Blk 60 - 14.3

I prefer the YF-22s look to be honest, but yeah, not vibing with the final F-22 at all.
The Su-57 tho… The whole line of Flankers looks ugly to me.

Does anyone know why this thread isn’t pinned yet, but part 1, and part 3 of the firebirds thread are still pinned?

Iirc the YF-23 had better capabilities than the YF-22 except for a few minor areas but North was going bankrupt at the time so they went with Lockheed instead iirc.

No, the Su-47 was shown to have incredible subsonic agility, especially at low speeds.
What doomed the program was the fact that the wings weren’t strong enough, and would begin to flutter once the aircraft exceeded supersonic flight.

Su-57 is gross, Su-47 gets a pass because it has the swept wing like on the YF-19 or the ADFX-01 from AC lol, im a sucker for those types of wings

I don’t really care about Soviet/Russian jets either, so, I dunno either. I just think something that actually tries an unorthodox design is much more interesting than, well, modern US jet fighter design number 22 and 23

So in short Kfir C.10 and Kfir C.10 Blk 60 are still both C.10 models. The latter is just upgraded.

I dont see how whole essay was needed to describe such simple thing. I’m aware of Blk 60 upgrades but they just dont make it any less of a C.10. And anyway:

Understandable ngl

It would probably have the best low speed maneuverability, but horrid control at high speeds.

From what I can tell the YF-23 was supposedly a bit faster and stealthier, while the YF-22 was more agile. Considering they never really tested weapons on the YF-23 there is nothing else you could compare between them

Waiting for 20 min video from TEC.

Yeah, it wasn’t very stable.
Though it could still be mitigated with a reworked flight-control system.
What couldn’t be mitigated was the wing strength. Forward-swept wings needed material breakthrough to be more viable.

He already made a video as well around the same time as Matt.

Ic. Thanks for the clarification :)

The biggest thing again was North was going bankrupt and they went with the more financial stable company, so the opposite of the abrams where the Military gave Chrysler the deal to save their company but they still were bought by GM in the end anyways.

“neither of them did anything new” gotta be one of the wildest claims on forums.

F-22 could carry 2 more missiles than it but there are claims YF-23 had lower RCS. It also had a much faster super cruise at mach 1.72 vs YF-22 mach 1.58

Didn’t have thrust vectoring though. And would only have 120A or C (it had a much deeper weapons bay) with maybe aim9 and no gun, so could be an interesting 14.0 or 14.3 depending on missiles

The scent of the devblog is slowly drifting away into tomorrow
