It’s US made and it was an early attempt to overcome problems with supersonic jets taking off from and landing on carriers
Did it work? What’s its name I want to look it up
AFAIK It was proposed to be a supersonic floatplane fighter that is meant to escort another in-development project, a large submarine supplying hydroplane, in order to supply submarines in areas with potential soviet aircraft. Scrapped when SSBN came out.
These were off the top of my head from a documentary older than war thunder however so cant be sure about that.
It’s the Convair F2Y Sea Dart and it did work. If they had picked the design up for production it would have been armed with 4 machine guns and possibly rocket pods and AIM-9Bs
Basically stuff that we’ve already seen, and stuff that is never coming.
Glad I’m not playing that tree.
I mean they did that for Hungary, which I’m not complaining because the extra Bombers was nice
I mean, i suppose a battle class could help as a destroyer thats basically a light cruiser, but none of the rest help with china’s big problem of having only 3 ships of cruiser size or larger (ning hai light, aurora light, no.68 heavy)
Haven’t heard of that before, but it seems there were plans for it to be used together with submarine aircraft carriers
I gotta ask, its been like 2 years since Finland was added and yet we have yet to do a single Finnish independence day holiday? Yet we do one for india? No disrespect but it seems silly to also exclude them though not the first time.
Wiki says that its designed to overcome the problem with supersonic fighter carrier landing so IDK, but that is probably more trustworthy. At least if you compare that to the British approach of alternative carrier landing…it seems somewhat plausible.
Plus its just underestimating how corrosive sea water is, it is terminated when better options came out.
I sure love the idea of belly landing on an aircraft carrier
It is a flexible deck so in theory you land on a soft deck. Yeah. Soft carrier decks. Seems like belly landing is lore accurate.
Not necessarily, if you go to the beginning of the century China could have like 8 or 9 classes of larger than destroyer ship. Few of them are good. And you could even give them an ironclad battleship… that Japan will get a better version of… but they could get them.
Even Canada Day is celebrated, and yet Finland is an established Sub-Tree, so I agree with you on that.
I’m Canadian so no I’m not bashing on Canada in-game.
These ironclads fire at 1r/180s so I wouldnt neccessarily call them a good addition, plus by WW2 standards their armor meant nothing.
Literally its December 6 and yet we have yet to see their independence day pop up. Guess another year without any finnish decals huge sad.
Probably because gaijin made the CT-CV 105HP a event vehicle instead of a prem, they have nothing high tier to sell so they ignore them
Ugh, actually came to think about it, October 23 - Republic of Hungary national day isnt there as well. Guess its something to deal with uh…Yeah.
Money yup…
We need a modern finnish roundel
One that isnt chipped and old looking I mean
