It can provide a launch solution but no DL i think, not much of an expert of PIRATE but it should be able to launch an AMRAAM that would later go pitbull and use it’s own radar for a majority of the guidance, although this is essentially LOAL so i don’t expect gaijin to model that

PIRATE or EuroFIRST PIRATE IRST is a thermal search and tracking system so I dont think it can guide ARH such as AIM-120

US have managed to guide Aim120s using DL from IRST mounted to an F-15

After reading it again, it’s not a new seeker. It’s seems to be some hardware and software additions/redesigns to make it function better. It does mention that it brings in sensor upgrades though.

PIRATE should be able to provide DL. It is able to obtain target heading and its distance. All that in inputed into the main computer, and after getting turned into commands, it goes off to the missile.

No, PIRATE uses trigonometric ranging.
Would ironically be the worst 4th gen IR missile in game if added next to something like a Python 4 or real AAM-3
That’s crazy, the precision they need to do that considering speeds of aircrafts
Still better than using AIM-9M.
And this is where it confuses me when people say europe is behind america in avionics and aircraft in general, we are on par or ahead in most fields besides stealth

It’s a necessary evil to summarise chunks of the playerbase with such extreme tunnel vision that they relegate themselves to playing a single nation and will die on the hill that they suffer
