go into the test drive rn and look at something 300m away, everything smears together
No offense, and to clarify, but that looks terrible because it is aliasing. It will be even worse in motion in battle. I tried FXAA and it shimmers, not even worth using. Your only other option is to use blurry options.
If you want screenshots, this is TAA vs SSAA 4x
Forums scaling it down to 1920x1080 doesn’t help.
And for what its worth, heres an example of the pop-in. Tiny limits but what can you do.
this is exactly the problem with Temporal AA. they’re not necessarily apparent in screenshots as those are mostly stationary.
its an issue with the entire game industry currently. Devs dont want to spend the time optimizing their games properly and instead opt for something like TAA, making everything look nice and smooth at the cost of clarity
There’s lots of videos on youtube explaining how its Bad. unfortunately its just the easiest option.
i think its most visible when flying over water for example or other high contrast scenarios. Grass is another one.
now tbf, its not that bad in war thunder when it comes to ghosting and there’s still FXAA which is decent but also not as accurate as MSAA
the blur starts at the average range you fight people at its ridiculous
As I said, you don’t use that anti-aliasing.
You use Intel’s option, or you use improved FXAA.
Since MSAA was never added to War Thunder.
I hope forum didn’t compress it too badly again, but this is what I was talking about with ‘remastered’ maps like Abandoned Factory. This is max settings, SSAA 4x. its like theres a forcefield of quality, a max setting inside and ULQ outside. The rubble on the floor does the same as the small gif I posted. Its very jarring and ruins the point of beautifying the game. I might as well just play ULQ.
Also, If we’re talking numbers…
80-110 fps 2560x1440 on a 7900XTX for this. For the game to at least look sharp.
RX 6800M / 6750XT on 2560x1440 or 2560x1600? forget 4x, you might get away with halving the SSAA in config but it’ll still be pretty aliased. All other options are really blurry.
AA like MSAA are way overdue in this game, along with not having broken LOD.
DAM that looks good, lucky you get graphics settings unlike console players (they completely removed the graphics tab for us)
FXAA is outdated, blurry and aliased. It looks especially worse in motion because it blurs and jitters.
XeSS, DLSS and FSR is upscaling, you’re playing at a tiny resolution, e.g.: 600p or 728p upscaled to 1080p. It’s good intentions on paper but its implementation is entirely up to per game, which the likes of UE5 game studios love to abuse as the only way to play because 0 optimisation.
However, this is multiplayer. Theres a reason nobody recommends upscaling for multiplayers. It will look dithered, blurry and ugly, things that will hinder you. I tried FSR anti aliasing on windows and it’s far too blurry.
Also if its AI upscaling, it could just as easily create imaginary enemies for a split second, like if you played with motion interpolation.
The only choices you have in this game is to suck it up, or have strong enough pc to run good enough SSAA, or a very high PPI screen like 16" 2560x1600 with minor SSAA applied.
XeSS, DLSS, and FSR have native resolution modes, which you should’ve known about before the post.
Instead of upscaling it just adds the anti-aliasing portion of the technology.
There’s a reason I recommended XeSS, DLSS is a good second option.
FSR should be avoided.
Which is very blurry and also doesn’t exist on linux.
Yes the blurriness really sucks it goes in and out your vehicle looks good whille playing a match others are blurry ,Then sometimes it looks good the whole match it needs to be fixed on there end .Never had this problem before it doesn’t matter what settings your playing on for graphics
Even with an intel B580 gpu XeSS as native aa still sucks. It improves on the detailed by a far bit and improves on the temporal stability even more but shadows, asphalt gets mushed. The ghosting is reduced so much that i can only see it if focus on it. Still not as clear as TAA but way better than on a non intel card.
it is mainly in air, it 100% is blurry, but i keep mine on 4x. no issues at 190fps with it on. depends on the gpu i supposed, but in ground i dont notice it much. and if u aim with it off u cant tell the difference, same as air when u zoom with it off it seems fine. also screenshots dont show it.
Its is very annoying that they ruined the game that was working and looking flawless, just to have some fucking puddles reflect rays.
The game also has a serious v-ram leak, even in lowest quality with the HD texture packs removed, it eats up all the vram.
I was allways using TAA since it was avalaible, and there were no problems.
And it is clear that the problem is that the game loads higher quality textures and objects too late.
When flying the ground looks horrible until you get much close to the ground:
Look how the white circle around the cap looks, its ridiculous.
The game just does not use my gpu anymore. 60% gpu usage leading to FPS as low as 48 on a 7900 xtx and 5800x3d, on settings that are 100% GPU bound. All because one CPU thread is pegged to 100% at a time.
So not only the game looks terrible, it runs like garbage ever since battleye was added. This is just insanity.
I’ve never noticed that before but when I saw Hardware Unboxed video benchmarking brand new 5090 and saw relevant performance of weaker GPUs. I was shocked how Gaijin cares about Radeon players.
I’m also running the 5800X3D + 7900 XTX and feels that my setup surely underperfoms compared to the very similar in terms of raw raster performance setups with NVIDIA GPUs (4080 and 4080S).
Check this out:
130 fps difference in 1440p on the basically equal GPUs. This is only raster no raytracing as you cannot enable in on AMD GPUs. Obviously it’s the same story for 1080p. And only in 4K the 7900 XTX starts to keep up with NVIDIA counterparts. This is very weird and I suggest the devs to look into it. Maybe I’ll make a report and attach it later.
It’s clearly that something is messed up or at least this is basically another example of how Radeon players suffers from developers clearly prioritizing one GPU brand over other.
This game has been sponsored by nvidia since the beginning. No surprise.
Ever since they added Battleye to Linux (25th Jan) the stupid game lost most performance. Some sessions its fine, some it drops -20 fps, in others its more than halve, and in rare instances below 60.
Bug report mods got me jumping between open source drivers (the ones you MUST use) and proprietary drivers (the ones you should NEVER install for 99.99% cases), even though its entirely this games fault. Still no fix in sight.
Oh yeah, forgot to add the freezing is still happening
