Trying to get the [“Excellent Naval Air Defense Specialist" is near impossible. Match after match, the bots are killing planes at 5-7 km out, long before they reach us poor players that actually need the kills.
I’m not saying the bots need to be completely nerfed, but it is beyond frustrating to wait ten minutes for a plane to spawn in just to watch it evaporate before anyone has a chance to take a shot at it.
At the very least, reduce bot aim distance to something less lethal than laser accurate one-shot kills from three miles away.

Bot AA and player AA are identical if the player AA is being controlled by the AI
They are retuning it in the coming major update. its a lot less accurate, but i’ve gotten a number of CAPs recently with a hydroplane.

My os2u-1 gets murdered as soon as I either near the combat area or when I descend.
I would just love not dying to a Groza more than 5k away again. Its rubbish that a bot in a Russian boat can kill a plane with its main guns at that distance.

It used to be I cap almost every try, nowadays it’s getting shot down way before even getting near the cap almost every try… ship aa just got too strong…
Maybe it is in the execution? As soon as I spawn in, I cut the engine and go into a dive. I even out at 10-20 meters above the water and fly on in at full throttle. When about 1 klick out, I cut the engine again and cruise on in. Staying low and behind islands also helps.
You need to be aware that there are players, I’m one of them, that keep an eye out for pilots looking to snag the cap though. Plan your route. Use the geography to your advantage and keep clear of your own teams’ vessels.

It’s a combination of the bots using their main batteries as AA to their full range, their accuracy, their artificially increased shell velocities, and the fact that some shells are completely invisible that makes flying planes virtually impossible… at the very least extremely frustrating.
I’ll be curious to see what they nerf, the wording makes it sound like it’s just the automatic AA on player ships… not restricting what the bots can do.

First off. Do they use their main guns vs AA? I dont think i’ve ever seen them do that
Secondly. Their shells have “artificially increased velocities”? Again. Fairly certain they are just the same as everyone else.
Thirdly. Invisible shells is probably just a server issue and nothing to do with the bots.
Yes. AI controlled guns have decent accuracy, but that should be changed next major. Though the changes may actually make AA more effective under certain conditions.
As far as I am aware. There is no difference between a bot controlled ships AA and a player controlled ships AA that is on auto.
Yea, the general AI accuracy of ships is insane right now. One time i spawned in with my B-17 and scratched the map border to clime and fly around AA, i got sniped by a enemy convoy Emden behind my own convoy. In the same match i got close with my Kirishima and got hit by the entire enemy convoy across half the map, even by the AA machineguns of the Cargo Ships.
I had now several such incidenses, like, the AA was already unreal before the aim system change. Especially the bot ship AA. I had SKR-1 and Köln (Frigate) Shoot there main guns, without ever reloading or overheating from 5 km away, hitting me.
And, don´t forget people, bots have only stock rounds, they do that with regular HE and stuff.
But now Ship AA just deletes everything coming close and Bot AA just deletes planes from anywhere on the map. I had even one AI ship in Air Arcade shoot at my bomber 8km in the sky and hit every shot. It did no damage, besides makeing my cooling leak, but with a bomber, depending on staying high, losing engine power is really Bad.
Heck, the ground aim of the Bots is no better now and the convoys seem to priorities players just locking them and then never letting go. I got destroyed now several times by a constant storm of small HE shots. Sinking Battleships and Frigattes alike.
Its truly insane, showing me again how incompetent Gaijin is, doing anything.

Mostly certain on all cases. On larger maps it is extremely easy to see that they are using their main batteries, and it was more apparent when the kill feed showed which shell killed you. The shell velocity is even easier to see, even without being in a plane. Invisible shells is definitely a server issue, but it still contributes to the problem at hand.

I mostly do it with embarked planes and on my first spawn, I’ll launch the plane asap, WEP towards the cap, when close I cut throttle, fire guns, sharp turns to slow down, get on cap, use smoke and actually land, once capped I’ll take off and fly away. And that happens really just after the game started, I don’t do ‘join in progress’… Heck, I had games where I capped, let an opponent plane decap, shoot down that plane and recap… Do that with The Arado from a Prinz Eugen on a 500% SL booster, that’s quite a few SL.
The problem is, at the moment the plane will usually be shot down by a ship over 5 km away, which was not the case before…
