“STOMPERUD” DECORATION
HISTORY
While studying footage from the 1950’s of various exercises held by the Norwegian army, I’ve discovered a couple inscriptions and decals, such as this. This is an image of “Stomperud”, a cartoon wich many has held dear for tens of years since before the second world war and until today. The comedy series was originally created by the Swedish Rudolf Petersson in 1932 as “91” an Karlsson, in Norway the comedy series first appeared in Norsk Ukeblad in 1937, where it was called Nr. 91 Stomperud, and is named “August Stomperud”, and features situational comedy about life in a Norwegian military camp. It is still published, both in newspapers and Christmas booklets. I thought this could be an interesting decoration in the game, with a funny reference to this comic strip that is so well known in Norway and Sweden. In this image it is painted on a Norwegian M24 Chaffe.
