St Chamond missing front armour

this would be a huge buff because it would make it frontally protected from the armored car HE shells

French tax

You’d think War Thunder would be able to model and code properly after 10 years, but alas, here we are yet again.

This is needed to end the OP hell that the garford beute is.

also crazy how a literal ww1 tank will be better than 80% of rank 1 france

Apparently IRL it was still quite marginal - it could defeat the German 7.92mm AP rifle rounds (K-round), but who knows what effect it might have in game - it still totals only 19.5mm, spaced so less effective than a single plate

Garfords on both sides are annoying.

But Gaford-Beute don’t need to overpressure Chamond and the rest of the Entente tanks since 76mm HE can just penetrate through the current frontal armor of enemies and it creates another difference. right?

It would be great if St-Chamond also needed to overpressure to kill with HE.

Garfords should not be able to cross trenches!!

The garford is annoying as hell but its unfair that only one sides best tank is mostly invulnerable to the thing. I average 7-15 shells to keep an A7V down until it dies from range in a garford when it takes one single shot to kill a chamond

‘Hippity hopitty, our magic truck need to pwn every western nation’s vehicle’

and with little kaiser-bias as garnish. XD
Of course, flanking works for them. just… Garford-Beute doesn’t need to face A7V and doesn’t need to flank and just can pen frontal armor of St-chamond. :/

Can’t wait to see Garford-beute fly and dogfight with SPAD
while Gaijin buffs Chamond even more, ‘only where it doesn’t need it’ but no armor improvement.

I really want to see, and I believe that historical frontal armor improvement is better than a ‘silly maximum speed buff’

i mean all the vehicles are running x2 speed. and the MK4&5 male are running x0.2 cross country capability. Im quite annoyed that the worst tank of ww1 is the best ww1 tank in WT right now

in game spaced armor like this tends to completely nullify HE and HESH

Not a surprise when M44 just nails KV-1 and Churchill in WT. :/

Just two more days and no more Garford hellhole ever again.
as long as Both Mk.IV/V will be unusable because of 7km/h speed outside of the event

I think I might just try some matches with St. Chamond after the event ends.
‘If Gaijin implement the armor buff’

it is damn shame that our Mark V which is ‘best version of most iconic tank series in WW1’ is the ‘worst tank in WW1 of Gaijin’

Western Entente tanks really need some love. :/

would be nice if we saw non russian vehicles be done right

Not like this it wouldn’t - This would be useless vs either - the gap is too small to do anything to HEAT and the thickness would jsut be smashed through by a HESH shell’s kinetic energy.

it would still be something at least. Any yes every HESH shell that’s ever entered service would just punch clean through and explode inside the crew comp

IRL yes, in game no

I can’t find any proof of the St Chamond having spaced frontal armour. All variants of it show the exact same plate on the front. That part around the gun isn’t the lower armour, that’s just the armour for the gun mantlet.

Modele 1

Modele 2

Modele 3 (this is the exact tank the ingame version is based on. However the side plates are different from what Gaijin modelled.)

And in the interior of a Modele 3, showing no extra plate

All the sources state it had an extra plate added as spaced armour - so you should start from the basis that it existed. Or are you trying to convince us it never existed at all??

Why would you expect an interior shot to show exterior armour?

This looks like it here -

How does one see exterior armour from inside the tank?

That’s the edge of the gun mantlet.
