Squadron Vehicles: VT5

This thing went from 10.7 to 11.3 in 2(?) uptades with no changes to the vehicle, outstanding…

The weight of the tank in real life is clearly more than what the weight of the armor of the tank in game would be.

The 36 tons is with 3 tons of external armor.
33 is with the armor it has in-game + maybe some extra hull front that might not be there.

@UMBRAL_STALKER-psn
It fires a meta round, has a meta reload, and is mobile. It’s the 3rd best light tank in the game.
If AGS had M900 it would be on-par.

I think the main point Alvis is trying to make is that a lot of this evidence doesn’t meet Gaijin’s usual standards for implementation. However, Chinese vehicles are in my opinion improperly implemented in game they should be better. How do you think I and other Israeli mains feel about Merkava, Namer and Trophy APS among other issues. Of course everyone lives with certain bias. I do think there is some bias when it comes to Gaijin’s implementation and standards for evidence.
(Alvis will probably disagree with the points I am trying to make or he will read this and disagree with this statement. I do believe he means well.)

Which is true, but they do prove Gaijin’s implementation is wrong, for instance RN there is absolutely no part of the frontal armour where it can fend off even BR412.

I agree that some points alvis made are valid, but I am also saying that it is possible that this tank has more armour IRL.

I only really ever said the side armor was corrected.
I stated hull could be off, and made no claims on the turret armor period.

@J-16D_PLA
There are over 4 under-BR’d Chinese vehicles right now
I wouldn’t call that bad.

I don’t disagree with you at all. I’m sure a lot of things in game are better IRL than we think they are. We don’t have access to truly accurate documentation for anything recent. Everything has to kind of be based on a best guess or on game balancing. I do believe the VT5 should be better based on the info I have seen.

So how exactly does Gaijin determine the performance parameters of their in-game vehicles? I strongly suspect they have never conducted actual physical measurements of real-world tanks.

which 4 ?

And I would like to know why was the VT5 changed from 11.0 to 11.3?

Because it fires the 2nd best 105mm round in the game, is very mobile, and has a great reload.
If HSTVL wasn’t in the game, the VT5 is easily the 2nd best tank.
HSTVL and VT5 are however fighting for second while Centauro 120 is comfortably sitting in 4th or 5th wondering why it’s still 11.7.

It can’t even resist high-caliber machineguns on the front sometimes

Welcome to light tanks. The best light tank in the game is also one of the weakest armored: CV90120.
It’s weaker than both HSTVL and VT5 in armor, yet despite that, its mobility, ammo performance, and other characteristics make up for that armor shortfall for a light tank.

A light tank’s primary duty is recon, with a secondary of taking out opportunistic tanks, so armor’s not the valuable thing for them.

But realistically the VT5 should have been better armored

There’s a 3 ton external armor package similar to what TAM 2IP has that brings VT5’s mass to 36 tons for extra HEAT protection at minimum. VT5 or the domestic one is currently in the files with that package, and will likely be the tech tree version after the 10.0 IFV I also forgot the name of.

It’s however still a sub-40 ton tank that has a focus on crew comfort [large] and powerful powerpack [large]. It’s not going to resist more than HEAT, light auto cannon fire, and allegedly 1950’s APHE.

The Bangladesh VT5 has less armor and a different turret face and is lighter compared to the one in the article where the lead developer claims it can resist early 100mm AP

  1. HSTVL is first, but 2S38 is 2nd place
  2. Armour is important for light tanks, its to resist against 12.7 mm to 30 mm for a brief moment, needed alot of times
  3. centauro has too high of a br, but i think the shell of the vt5 is not good enough for 11.3. comparing it more to other vehicles like the 2s25m and cv90105

Russian tank producer also claims that their tanks are invincible and superior… so what?

The shell that has almost 500mm pen and a gun that reloads in 5 sec is not good enough for 11.3? The fuck? Better dont let that hear the fuji

The point is.
the claim about 100mm ap protection can’t be applied to the Bangladesh VT5 since its not the same model…
