After the recent update, whenever I try to invite my friends to a squad it says “operation timed out” and their invite doesn’t work or shows them in the squad but we can’t see each other’s lineups.

Chat server has been having a bit of trouble connecting and getting established. You may want to join a channel and make sure they’re able to join or do the same, then try again.

Can you please clarify what do you mean by “join a channel”? I am having this same issue since yesterday.

I’ve been online for over an hour and the chat server still hasn’t connected. (Bottom right is the chat icon I’m mousing over, cut the edge of the chat label off)

My chat “works” but my friends do not see when I create a new one or when we join another chat. The system is completely knocked out. Hope it gets fixed soon. Having squad system down for over 36 hours seems very damaging to the game IMO.

Technically the squad system works still as you get your autosquads working.
Another option to semi play together is an old technique of counting in. Match BRs in your lineup, disable ‘join in progress matches’ or battles or whatever it’s called now, align with the same server and mode selected, and queue all at the same time.
You may end up on the same team, and in the same match if you’re lucky.

I tried it yesterday but ended up with a few games vs my friends, while it was fun for 2 rounds, after that it got boring fast

Same issue, till the Nov. 3rd the system still worked even though it was VERY slow after the last update. We had to wait a full minute before my friends even became visible in the squad.
Since yesterday (4-11-23)
Invites do not work at all anymore. If I or my friend send the invite for squad. It takes around 20seconds before the other person gets the invite on his screen. by that time the sender gets the “timed out” message.
The receiver accepts and on his screen he is (after a while loading) in the squad.
The sender does not see anything and cannot send an invite to that same person again.
So since the last major update we cannot play with each other in a normal way.
