Why? With a 80km-SAM, Israel the first time has a Top-Vehicle, not a second Choice like the unrealistic Merkava’s.
So, why cant let you the real Ranges of their Missles? OP? Surley Not, in Close-Combat and against Fighter close the ground the SPYDER hast realy Problems, but it will be a realy good SAM against high and far away flying Aircraft.
Just ONE Time a good Vehicle for the IDF, please!

The 80km number came from copy-paste Air-to-air derby configuration. However I do agree that 40km range on a extended range version of DERBY shouldn’t be completetely out of the window as it still keeps an ARH seeker and is possible to defend against. As it looks like now, Python 5 barely reaches 8km, and struggles to hit a target that does light manuevers up to 5km. And the DERBY is really mediocre ARH weapon by itself…

The 80km was just copied from the A2A derby’s stats (like as found on Barak II). It was never going to have close to this range launched from the ground.
It still makes no sense why they’re opting to give it SR (20km), when ER (40km) exists. ER would be range parity with SLM, whilst still being worse in other areas.

That sounds about realistic considering it’s firing from stationary launcher, as far as i know Python-5 reaches 15+Km’s when it’s fired from plane.

P5 has 20km+ and bvr capability close to an 120(stated by the idf) so all tho its clasified i will bet its 30km or even more
Dude those specs are fired from fixed wings, not from stationary target.

Keep in mind those specs are fired from fixed wings at high altitude where air density is much lower and with very high speeds.
Meanwhile you’re firing Python-5 from completely stationary platform which makes it effective range much lower.
That would be max range in this case.
Not that low dude p5 has very low drag and a burn time of 7-8 seconds with thrust adjusting surly it can go more then 8 km
Sure it can go more than 8km but it’s not gonna be close to it’s fixed wing performance.
In this case 12-15km should be realistic in best case scenario.

This is a big diffrance then 8 km
Just dropping an overview here of the best Israeli ground-based counter against different types of airborne enemies after the patch:
- Helis without LDIRCM: Namer-Spike
- Helis with LDIRCM: Tank-M339 ammo (good luck lol)
- Aircraft: Chaparral (as the Spyder can easily be found and will get killed without being able to defend itself. The Chaparral can at least hide and wait for a good moment to try its luck.)
- Combat UAV: Spyder
Essentially the sole purpose of the Spyder will be
- Shooting down UCAVs
- Spotting ground enemies to reduce spawn points for CAP/CAS (albeit it’s probably more effective and fun to do that in the Namer)
And for that they put it at 12.0

I’ve tried everything. Playable only derby. There’s no point in taking Python 5. They do not intercept neither missiles nor airplanes
Radar is very funny(no). Gaijin has made us all realize that there can be nothing better than the USSR
