Forget what I said, I somehow had the “Allied” filter only checked… It’s been 2 days I just saw it
Has spyder received changes for its derby and python 5’s? I was informed of changes on dev and wanted to get collective confirmation and feedback from anyone on the subject
So not confirmed to be in this dev but more than likely by the end of this year. I’m very curious to see as to how they change it
Confirmed to be NOT on this dev, it was not there, can confirm myself.
It can come this year, can come later, if at all.
ARH missiles got air drag reduction and max fin AoA buffs, also more aggressive autopilot. Given Derbys got overall buffed with rework associated with ER introduction, it probably will be mostly more fin AoA, maybe slight touch to air drag multiplier, 1.55->1.5, 1.4 if you want to be optimistic.
Which is complete and utter bullshit btw. The Python 5 has one of the most advanced IIR seekers in the world and by all means should be immune to vatnik teknologi DIRCMs. The I-Derby ER is also underperforming, as its seeker should be AESA and much harder to fool, similar tech to the Iron Dome’s interceptor’s seeker.
cant wait for them to finally make SPYDER radar make sense
it does not spin.
Well, yeah, its a fixed mount of 4 arrays. It should not spin.
I couldn’t find anything reliable stating it has AESA seeker.
https://defense-update.com/20150220_i-derby.html
Well, it uses a very modern 21st century (missile was unveiled in 2015) solid-state software-defined radar, and Israel has been at the forefront of AESA radar development. Although it is not confirmed in writing, this radar is 99.9% AESA. Either that or the tech of the seeker is AESA-equivelant.
It’s not reasonable to say “99.9%” when not even unreliable sites would state AESA. You have to have something, or even anything to have any suspicion that it could have AESA.
The SPYDER has been completely ruined (Absurd Nerf / SPYDER vs IRIS-T)
I have simply stopped playing the SPYDER because it has been turned into complete trash. It is incredibly frustrating to see how this system was destroyed by absurd nerfs to the point where I don’t even put it in my lineup anymore, knowing it just won’t work against anything.
When you compare the SPYDER to the IRIS-T, the difference is a bad joke. The IRIS-T actually works: its missiles maneuver as they should, track properly, and hit their targets. Meanwhile, the SPYDER’s missiles cannot shoot down absolutely any helicopters at 13.0. And it’s not just helicopters: the missiles aren’t even hitting planes anymore!
The newest, longest-range missile added, the I-Derby ER, is completely useless. I’ve used it multiple times and it never manages to shoot anyone down. The only things that barely do any damage are the heat-seeking missiles (Python) and the shorter-range radar missile (standard Derby, which has more TNT), and even then, their performance is pathetic.
To make matters worse, the SPYDER cannot intercept anything. It is completely unable to shoot down incoming enemy munitions. Everything fired at you hits you and kills you. You are nothing but a sitting duck.
It is absurd that Gaijin leaves the SPYDER in this unplayable state while other modern SPAAs like the IRIS-T perform infinitely better. They need to fix this mess.
Addition: The absurd difference compared to the new Chinese SPAA and the disregard for Israel
To add to my previous post, just look at the new Chinese SPAA. It is an extremely similar system to the SPYDER in concept, yet in-game it works perfectly: it tracks and shoots down both helicopters and planes without any issues.
How is it possible for an anti-air (SPYDER) to be so heavily nerfed that players can’t actually use it for its single intended purpose? We all know that Gaijin’s balancing heavily favors the Russian side, but intentionally breaking other nations’ tech trees to the point of making players give up on them feels like a fundamentally dishonest design choice.
There is more than enough information on the internet. The qualities and effectiveness of the SPYDER in real life are undeniable. The exact same thing happens with the Merkavas, which also suffer from this completely flawed implementation in-game. Gaijin breaks the realism of other nations so much that players just give up on the tech tree entirely. But one thing is for sure: I will never touch the Russian tech tree just because it’s the artificial “meta” created for this game.
Technically speaking FK-2000 is basically Chinese Pantsir.
Bro why are we even talking about them if its laser transiver located on the back belly side of a heli and shouldnt mess anything at all at the first place?
Just finished spading SPYDER. Its ranked 12.7 for GRB and is entirely useless at this BR. I cannot hit a scout drone, <1km its too short range to turn missile, for >1km lock is unreliable (for both radar and IR locked missiles), i got way under 10% hit rate on drones in perfect conditions. Cannot see attack drones on radar. Only kills I had were a pilots flying in straight line ignoring RWR. Even if I have a lock, and there is second SPAA in team, most likely it have faster missiles so no kill for me. I think its the most useless vehicle i played so far (isreal is my second maxed out tree)
cause its saclos, gaijin seems to favor saclos systems over all other to an absurd degree. look at hq11 as a better example.
I envy your mental pain threshold.
