What’s wrong with P5?
Ask Gaijin
sometimes i think they build the SPYDER with P5 to then craete the AIM 9X
I’ve made myself to play GRB game and now I’m rewatching replay of someone trying to shoot down Mi28s with TAN SAM then wild Spyder appears. Sure, TAM isn’t Derby, but missile seekers are pretty much copy/paste.
And in look up, as well look down when ground clutter isn’t an issue, missile can track mostly hovering heli in Pulse mode, albeit at short ranges, intermittent tracks on heli appearing around 4km, around 2.2km missile seeker snaps onto chaff, spoofed correctly.
Speaking of the devil.
My guess, radar due to really slow update speed feeds missile outdated IOG info, then seeker is basically incapable of getting track on LMURs which are really slow, not even 800kmh when they burn out. In screenshot case, missile spinning in circles trying to follow IOG location to find out what have been told.
SPYDER does have AESA radar, but that means nothing when it is the missile seeker that has to lock.
nothing its just behaving like a retarded missile because the devs cannot do its job properly.
Thats the mystical magic dircm protection made by rasputín itself
Thw spyder does the derby doesnt(also in the game spyder doesnt rly have an aesa)
Whats not?
Engine,pull, seeker, drag,dl
Wobble like crazy
Gaijin rly outdid themselfs
yeah but the SPYDER definitely has datalink (i mean look at the damn server room mounted on the truck) and the radar can give active positional updates to the missile regardless of if its a derby or python
Only Derby has datalink to update inertial guidance. Once Python leaves the rail, its on its own.
Then critical piece for datalink to work is uninterrupted radar contact, brief loss of tracking is enough to close datalink channel.
No one knows
It has global link so safe to assume it has dl link too but its hella clasified
Quite sure that the article was about them successfully firing it using global link, and that does not mean missiles has it. It can very well be firing it using data from a different platform transmitted via global link to the launch platform, that calculated the trajectory and put correct iog inputs into the python, making it go on a correct flightpath that allowed it to aquire the intended target using its own seeker.
DL to the missile was not needed there. Could be, but it is not proving anything.
For Gaijin, its rather simple - can it receive mid flight corrections? Yes/no. Ability to launch someone else missile isn’t it, as far as Gaijin is concerned. And so far, Rafael has no qualms advertising two way datalink on Derby, but remains completely silent about in on P5
Derby is older then python 5 but sure
Python 5 should have at least the ability to scan the skies to get a lock but gaijin didnt model it so the missiles miss like 50% of the time
so thats what im tryin to say irl it does, in game its a knockoff mimic.
It also needs datalink for long range shots, unlike p5 which is meant for use only in close range. That’s why p5 doesn’t have datalink. Although if they make a python 6, I’m sure it would have 360 degree cuing and datalink because most modern ir missiles have that
Wrong. Python 5 was made to do bvr too
Thats why i dout it doent have dl
It probably allready has that cuz we know it can do full 360 and lunch on targets behind the aircraft
you do not need DL for that.
Oh yeah 360 can be done using pure iog. I remember Australian asraam doing that b4 hand
