SPYDER - General Discussion

Do we have a report yet for the lackluster maneuverability of the Python 5 and its inability to preform tasks its know to be able to? (Such as a 180 in 3s)

hopefully doesn’t get overturned. I’ve had a couple overturned by a different report manager.

I’m following the news of i-DERBY ER,But there doesn’t seem to be any news about this…

Please, make the second Ammunition as an second Weapon, so the SPYDER can fire the Derby or the Python 5 any time and dont have to fire the actually loaded missle out before … for this Interaction, the SPYDER has not enough Missles.

And if the Post from the other Buddy is not here:
Camera angle: Probably the most obvious but i think we’d like the camera to be a bit further away from the vehicle so we can see where we drive
Radar: currently the radar seems to spin around rather then working constantly across all sides, The whole point of this specialized radar is avoiding blind spots at all time, Each of the radar screens is looking in a different direction to provide 360* coverage at all times

Why? With a 80km-SAM, Israel the first time has a Top-Vehicle, not a second Choice like the unrealistic Merkava’s.
So, why cant let you the real Ranges of their Missles? OP? Surley Not, in Close-Combat and against Fighter close the ground the SPYDER hast realy Problems, but it will be a realy good SAM against high and far away flying Aircraft.
Just ONE Time a good Vehicle for the IDF, please!

The 80km number came from copy-paste Air-to-air derby configuration. However I do agree that 40km range on a extended range version of DERBY shouldn’t be completetely out of the window as it still keeps an ARH seeker and is possible to defend against. As it looks like now, Python 5 barely reaches 8km, and struggles to hit a target that does light manuevers up to 5km. And the DERBY is really mediocre ARH weapon by itself…

The 80km was just copied from the A2A derby’s stats (like as found on Barak II). It was never going to have close to this range launched from the ground.

It still makes no sense why they’re opting to give it SR (20km), when ER (40km) exists. ER would be range parity with SLM, whilst still being worse in other areas.

That sounds about realistic considering it’s firing from stationary launcher, as far as i know Python-5 reaches 15+Km’s when it’s fired from plane.

No its p4
P5 has 20km+ and bvr capability close to an 120(stated by the idf) so all tho its clasified i will bet its 30km or even more

Dude those specs are fired from fixed wings, not from stationary target.

Yea so 20 30km(might be more but clasified) air lunched are 8km ground lunched?
It should have 12km at min
