This pod was advertised in the dev stream as having an ability to function as a turret, tracking targets automatically based target point.
This feature, which was available in the dev server, was not brought to the game with this functionality. Still no word on whether this is a bug or not- it simply has not been addressed by Gaijin staff at all.
There-in lies an issue - in essence, this is at best, reliance on this line in the dev posts
Please note that this vehicle’s characteristics may be changed before it is added to the game.
But at worst, this is a form of false advertisement.
It should be explicitly noted which features are not likely to make it to the live game in the dev streams so that people do not buy these in game items, potentially with real money, with the expectation that they have unique functionalities they don’t end up having. Many players who watch these streams do not use the forums, and are likely to spend the money without knowing that these changes are made.
The dev stream and dev server aren’t absolute advertisements, they’re just closed and then open testing environments of what’s being worked on, with no guarantees of what will make it to the final update.
Everyone knows to only look at the final patch notes.
Yet, the dev streams showcasing a literal selling point of a vehicle, and ZERO mention of a feature being retracted in ANY of the information after the dev stream about the plane is the issue. Gaijin has not acknowledged that the pod was removed, but their staff had made sure to note that it was a feature coming with the plane.
If you don’t see the ethical issue, I can’t help you.
Uhuh and then they release Jeff-17 with it UFO-style flight model.
Then you guys learn that “Subject to change” is just a cover for anything that is not performing like people imagine it and DEV Server is just a glorified advertisement
I posed 2 perspectives. That at best, it’s a reliance on that very statement that it is subject to change, and that at worst, it is showing a major feature and then failing to recognize that it is not present in the final product.
You’re ignoring entirely that this major feature was taken away with zero mention that it was, after it was shown in Gaijin’s own media demoing the plane.
The motives are questionable when there’s no mention of such a change from the dev-blog and dev-stream to the live server, there’s zero mention of it’s removal in the change log, and every issue post about it has received no response.
Then why not “fix it” then update dropped and not with the next one, huh? Sounds like, once again, as a defense against any negativity with “Cmon guys, it not final!”
