SPO-30/SPO-32 L-150 Soviet/Russian Third Generation RWR 'Dead Zone' Issue

I’ve been looking at a few close up images of the Su-35, honestly all I could find were the MAW sensors, like the one just behind the cockpit, I’m kinda surprised even the 30SM might have wider coverage, but it’s not the end of the world I guess.

Where did you know the code of these antennae? Let me check it, probably finding something.

Antennae are not always visible.
e.g. Mig-29 with SPO-15LE

I guess, that makes it even harder to find out if the RWR coverage could offer more :/

Su-35 does have several little knobs along the spine length, as well as on the wing consoles.

Damn that’s a beautiful aircraft bruh 😭😭

Yeah the flat ones, I have no idea what those are though, the little knobs on the SM2 resemble the RWR ones more so it’s a little easier to spot them.

Good images tho, the MAW receivers are so easily spotted in these.

About the Su-35, in these pictures the 6 dispensers are all mounted on the top part of the jet, but as seen from the later batches, they can have 2 under the tail (like the SM2), I wonder if gaijin considers adding a total of 8, effectively matching the amount found on the SM2.

here’s the good belly photo, but it seems to be pretty clean, only MAW sensors under the chin

Nice, just as I was talking about the dispensers under the tail :)

i was talking about the red ones. There is also something that resembles SPO-15 top antenna that i marked with blue

Good photo of side sensors on the nose

Ah so the one under the nose points both forward and backwards? In the belly photo you sent earlier it looked like only backwards.

Yeah, it seems that entirety of MAW suite is located around the cockpit.

Also on the tail, on the rudders.

Nvm I mistook them, they are RWR knobs.

Another interesting thing i’ve noticed is that SPO-15 top and bottom antennas location according to the 27SK manual.

Spoiler

Top one located right behind the cockpit and is pretty visible on most photos. (Gaijin modelled it flat, altough it seems that it is a bit bulbous)

Spoiler

But the interesting thing is that there is still something installed on some of the L-150 equipped airframes
Su-27SM (On some it seems to be painted over with regular paint, instead of radiotransparent one)

So it makes me wonder if they retained the top and bootom antennas from SPO-15 that just give you a warning without direction or not

There is something on Su-33 as well, but i can’t find older Su-33 photos without RWR for comparison

Su-30SM has something completely different in that place

Yep, according to this ‘skeleton’ of Su-27, there must be something on that spot, not just empty hole like access hole/ hatch or something. Though I haven’f found further proof.

well, under first spoiler i posted SPO-15 installation scheme from Su-27SK manual that @kizvy posted in Su-27 thread. And there is an antenna there. Can it work with L-150, however, i do not know.

Huh, so MKI has LDIRCM? That’s new for me. But in terms of RWR it uses it’s own Tarang-30, and it looks identical to L-150 in terms of angle coverage
