On December 12th of 2012, at Skaraborgs Flygflottilj Air Base, a Gripen A, Red Day glow 131, was the last Gripen A to be flown and was painted with a splinter camo design based on the Saab 37/Viggen, the Gripen was flown by No.72 Company and features there emblem shown on the white tip of the tail. This specific Gripen was painted with the purpose of sending off the Gripen A as they were being retired and replaced with JAS39C’s and D’s. I thought it was a neat send off to the Gripen A (or as some swedish pilots referred to it as the sports Gripen.) and additionally it is a very cool camo design which was painted on the last flown Gripen A to celebrate their history and time in service. It’s not too crazy of a camo but i thought id suggest this cool camo for the Gripen A alongside mentioning its little bit of history for why it was painted.
