spitfire mk22 and spitfire mk24 sit at the same br 6.7. i’ve read many old posts where some people say the mk22 and mk24 offer same performance, while some say that mk24 is worse coz of fuel load, some say mk24 is better due to better controls at all speeds, some say mk24 has more engine power or something like that. i can’t figure out which one is better/worse. i originally decided to go for the mk24 coz of the positive reviews and better looks but now i’m not sure.
What do you mean by this? As you need to research the mk22 first before you can get the mk24. So it’s not so much a matter of choosing one or the other if you want to try out the mk24.
The stat cards and x-ray view have different specs and engine power. You can review them to see some differences.
As for in-game performance, I can’t really add much as I don’t play them enough. Hopefully others post to that.
well i mean i already have pretty good spitfires from the previous br’s so if mk24 is better i will just purchase mk22 and not crew to not waste my time grinding with it stock against jets. also saves me the crew cost and pain.
i don’t want to halfaxx it that’s what i mean. i want to know what i’m getting. and devote my time to learn the thing i’m getting properly.
The 24 is better, it gets more engine power because it gets the 150 octane fuel that the 22 doesnt get, it also has later mark Hispano’s that are mostly the same, though a bit more reliable. The 22 is a bit lighter but loses out on the engine power, though is still very strong.
are there any major differences to how you play those two?
No, not really. You will out-turn basically any jet you will face, and you can out-dive a good number of them. You do basically everything better than any other prop in the game. Tailor your playstyle to the enemy you are facing, so if you are facing something you know can turn well then you should attempt to energy fight it, and for things that are faster you can try and draw them into a turn or try and get them into a diving fight as you will retain energy better through the dive. Avoid headons as per usual and you should be able to at least defend effectively in the majority of situations.
One last question, is it worth getting both planes or just one or the other same thing?
Personally i experienced the Mk24 to be waaay better, it just handles better than the mk22 and has better energy retention compared to other Spitifres as stated, so if you’re quick you can suprise some earlier jets by tailing them up in a vertical and spraying a little with your 4 Hispano’s, however you do still have worse energy retention than things like P51 or basically every early jet so you do need to be aware of your speed and energy at all times.
I’d just get the mk24 now they are the same BR, it is always worth spading both if you want the extra RP from the modification ranks but if you are short on SL then just the 24 will do you fine
the spit mk24 will eat up any prop plane in the game and take on a lot of early jets (other than SU9) with ease, I use it as CAS from 6.7 to 7.3 and it just slaughters anything
I’ve read ppl talk about the su9 a lot but the british attacker seems better on the stat cards. I’m planning on that thing being my introductory jet, coz the 7.3 meteor seems to be slow.
its incredibly good just because you can just ignore any enemy aircraft as you are twice as fast
Yeah, thanks for all the helpful answers buddy. If i recall correctly u were on my other post too?
possibly, i recognise your name from other posts so maybe
U can tell by the fact that I’m enquiring about british props that it was the tortoise post lol.
ah yes lmao
When you need to compare two fairly similar planes, you can use wtapc.org to help you make a more informed choice.
That seems like a very useful resource! (I can tell by the number of 😑) I probably won’t have to ask such stuff in the future (much). Also I’m just guessing here, is ur name ridima by any chance? 😅
Edit: Also if you happen to know any more such resources, please let me know, i’m interested in all 3 vehicle types and am curious about many things so it’ll help me out one way or another. Thankyou
Not my name.
Other resources I use (some are outdated, but can still be of use):
Top speed at sea level
Climb and MEC chart
Bomb loadouts
Optimal climb speeds
Aircraft data sheets
Was just curious. Just a name i was familiar with from my country.
Thanks for the help.
