UK air tree needs a floatplane fighter to use on naval battles, and i think the floatplane version of the spitfire would be a great addition
the Japs have their Zero,
the issue is for the floatplanes, if its anything like the zero, its going to be much lower BR
For example in RB the standard A6M2 is 3.7, while the A6M2-N (floatplane) is 2.3… that’s 1.3 lower
if we get a spit Mk.1 Floatplane that’d be a 1.7 Spitfire…
and forgetting if you fly too fast over water you can rip these pontoons off and get the plain aircraft back, so yay for fighting poor 1.0 Biplanes with what’s effectively a 3.0
as much as i’d like it, it’d either be too high to use practically (needing time to rip pontoons and not getting to altitude at a near /same BR to the standard spit, or have it drastically lower and have it heavily exploitable
Or add the Mk VB float plane or the Mk IX float plane so it’s a little higher
Or they can change the floatie fighter’s models so that the floats can’t be torn off without either breaking the tail off, or turning the whole fuselage black for a degraded drag and turning rates.
There is always a solution.
One of the modifications they did have to make was improved wings spars
