Specific tips on Rank 4 China

Recently I have finished unlocking every plane in rank 4 Chinese air.
I basically solely play air rb and to save on sl, I have turned auto repair off.
Now, I don’t have enough skill to consistently earn enough sl to make manually repairing profitable and I only have 10k after buying the tu 2.
Here are the ways I play every plane:
Il 10: usually bomb a base then die in a head on, if I’m lucky I get a kill.
La 11: I climb to around 4km and then get met with lots of British and American props which I cannot out turn or outspeed/bnz
La 9: similar to la 11 but a bit better due to a better plane
Pb4y: even whilst climbing to 5-6km I still get fighters shooting me down without being able to get any hits on manual gunners
Tu: 2 even if I do manage to dive to a base, I usually get shot down quickly after

Any help in making warning sl more consistent and more enjoyable is gladly appreciated.

I’d just grind using the LA-11, u have a decent engine and can take headons without fear due to a great armament. U can also boom n zoom pretty easily, anything u cant dogfight u can just run away from till u regain altitude

In general I’d advise you to avoid playing bombers and attackers. The situational awareness needed to perform well in them is quite high for a newish player like yourself.

Rank 4 China in general has a lack of meta planes and your best chance of getting through it without going mad is by playing either the La 9 or Tu 2. Neither of them is an exceptional “dogfighter”, therefore you should always try to play around your team.

On a side note: Do not force a base destruction by diving directly after spawning. As you have experienced yourself, most of the times you will be intercepted after or even before getting your bombs off. Try to avoid the main furball of fighters by curving around on the left side of the main play area to remain unseen. After bombing you will have higher potential energy than most and you can easily pick off 1 or 2 enemies with your quite heavy armaments on the TU2.

With the La 9 try to achieve an altitude of min 5km MSL. If you notice that a spitfire or sth is outclimbing you, don’t force a headon you won’t win and just circle back to your teammates. As Terminated_800 already said, your best tactic are BnZ tactics and not dogfighting.

Staying alive longer will always net you higher rewards.

So should I just climb to around 3.5km and maintain speed on the sides of the map?

Does this video basically show how to play a generally bad plane like the la 9 and la 11?

And does left side mean the side where the enemy is less likely to fly to or just always left?

TU-2s can be pretty decent, when i played the hungarian one in the italian tech tree i went after ground targets with the 100kg or 250kg bombs then go and fight other attackers or if you get a map like malta where the ground targets can be pretty far away from enemy planes just keep killing ground targets

Ground pounding with the tu 2 is quite fun but somewhat inconsistent. Sometimes I get 2 kills 2 bases and some ground targets, sometimes I get killed without any score and that just doesn’t make the sl worth it.

How do you guys consistently make bank with it?

Overall his comments on playing slow and methodically are good but please… do not try to climb at a 45° angle. When climbing always try to have at least some airspeed left to be able to manouver if need be (random enemy is closing in on you) and at 45° you are just gonna stall yourself out. 10 - 15° is way more reasonable.

I am gonna be honest videos like the one you linked are in general way too overgeneralised. I advise you to go and watch someone like Defyn. Yes, his videos are for an audience already familiar with the game but it’s a decent start nevertheless.

Outside of 1.0 and the occassional cracker, every team tends to start flying towards their left side. You should fly there as well for team support and since you will encounter less resistance when setting up your climb.

Simple answer:
Stop rushing the tree with just 660 battles experience. Play in rank 2 until you can “dominate”. You learn, you can afford expert crews, you may win talismans, you earn SL.

Once you have the impression that you can do really well there, move on to rank 3. And so on.

a little secret dont tell anyone

but seriously yeah you just gotta work on improving your consistency, being consistently okay is better than being sporadically great imo, be more patient, wait for your team so you can hide behind them, dont be afraid to run away in fact run away a lot (whenever you are unsure if you can beat someone, run away preferably to your team)

Never realized that, probably the best advise so far. Thanks, and I’ll probably play Swedish air from the bottom up, just to improve my skills.

consider one of the bigger tech trees, swedish air can be great but its a small tech tree with little variety so not necessarily much opportunity to learn

  • You will have to rebuy crews and planes as well as expert skills. Which will reduce SL income.
  • You will have to skill new crew(s).
  • It is fun. You could do this with rank 1 of all nations. Gives you a lot of experience.

Alternatively, you could grind all modules for china rank 1-2 first, if you haven’t done so. This will add to your crew skill too. You might win talismans of your favorite nation.

Maybe USSR or USA? Many planes are taken straight from those nations for china.

Rank 1 and 2 is quite cheap tho and repair times are quite fast, so yeah that’s probably what I will do

If you play several nations, repair won’t be an issue. Just play through other nations while the stuff repairs.
