Stand-off.
On spawn, turn perpendicular dropping to the deck and assess your range.
Get to >16km and start climbing.
With over 8000 meters in altitude, you run the S maneuver.
Starting from perpendicular >18km away, you select the area of the BF you want to launch on.
Turn in to launch munitions then turn away prior to getting within 13km.
When done correctly, Pantsir’s missile will always miss.
In terms of SHORAD this take is objectively false, especially when translated into war thunder, and in terms of LRAD/SAM networks, again the Russians and Chinese both have very capable systems and have remained to build up/modify these networks up to current standards, it’s not healthy to continually underestimate a nation’s tech due to a preconceived bias against eastern tech. While on one have the Patriot system has shown it’s benefits, it has also shown it’s shortcomings that are addressed by S-400/HQ-9
I didn’t say that the Com Bloc weapons were bad. I said the western missiles were better. I have spent my entire military career (nearly 22 years) training to defeat Soviet/Russian IADS. I have a very deep respect for how dangerous they are.
But from the Hawk - Patriot, Aegis SM’s and THAAD I will assert that unit per unit, western missiles are better than eastern missile systems. You can say “xxx has better SHORAD” but you’re looking at only one part of a network and you also have to look at the why things look or are the way they are.
Without access to classified data, it’s an impossible argument to prove either way.
The Igla and the Redeye/Blowpipe were roughly comparable. But our access to high end tech and manufacturing quickly set western missiles ahead.
China got TOR, where’s russian TOR? Instead of it they have decided to give them Pantsir, you see the pattern? The decision is always made to benefit soviet tech tree.
The context was “at a BR that currently lacks options”, as indicated by OP’s post.
None of those fit that as all of those are <4.0 or >9.0 but <12.0 capability.
SL-AMRAAM is more than capable of competing and exceeding Pantsir’s performance. AIM-9X has often quoted 23km range, even if we assume it to be capable at half that range it is still competitive.
The thing is you have to be careful with new additions.
SPAA needs to apply pressure, not be wins.
Pantsir is ~4km of range from doing that itself.
Spyder could do that, but that’s one vehicle and Israeli.
Better Pantsir could do that too, but Russian.
Cool, then give it AIM-120A/B/early C instead of the proper SL-AMRAAM with the extra booster. There’s also variants of the same system that can also carry 9Xs for closer range targets.
Its all a matter of actually wanting to fulfill a gap, gaijin is clearly willing to bend reality to suit the game (Brimstones) but not to add new top tier SPAA to countries that aren’t russia.
Soviets didn’t get a new top SPAA though. they got A top SPAA, and only one.
Pantsir, which is as useless as everything else, is well over a year old in the game.
Down low their are also mostly shit like Shilkas and the 37mm are dogwater compare to their counterparts until one of them equipped with stingers but still the Germanys Gepard also get them so still remain crap, USA also dogwater down low until they get the M247, and then the ammo count of the HE-VT is way too low.
nah, its not, people just trigger happy spamming the rounds. I rarely run out of the HE-VT rounds, it just takes a few burst and they are down, not an entire magazine.
Didn’t rearmed at the cap zones once yet I had enough for a few more air kills if they spawned in it.
It was just that 1 game lol every other match was just 2 to 5 air kills, sometimes 0, Rare to see this many air kills around 9.0 to 9.7. I was honestly happy about it cuz I was looking forward to stopping CAS that day with the M247.
Real shit lol, I was in a match earlier today in the Type 81 and only TWO enemy aircraft spawned - a very early ka50 rocket rusher and a very late Su25. Nothing else, and they were winning.
Wish Gaijin could allow Towed AA to take part of the game. It’s not safe to shoot while its towed due to its light weight and its recoil…but thinking outside the box here. I know its possible to extend the legs while its attached. Why not allow us to key-bind the extension of the legs to just like we can with bulldozers for better stabilization and move slowly when extended? If we want to reposition, we can just retract them for better mobility. This will allow the addition of more AAA options for nations that are so limited to them.
And I agree with ya on this one. This will allow missing missiles for some SPAA like the Type 81 AHR missiles or SAM that rely on support vehicles. Just gotta park one in the spawn and only activates when someone on the SAM is using it. Once they gone, it stops working till someone else is back on it.
Probably the worst source to use. Wasnt their AI overview shown to use reddit or something? like it tell people to do things that would kill them?
It would probably have to be some form of dropping it off and having it work until you hitch it back up to move it. Not sure how that would work with the current physics but it is probably the best way.
Would also allow for ARM to be added i think.
Since the HE-VT can actually hit targets that is flying straight at 3-4km away, it takes as long as 7-10 seconds to reach them, I have a habit of keep firing until I see the hit marker lol yes that is just a waste of bullets for the most part, maybe with practise I can save enough ammos that 250 is enough to send 10 CAS back to hangar bro
Waiting for ammo pack, hopefully when it gets implemented the CAS mains don’t cry until the M247/VEAK has to be moved to 9.7 lol
