SPAA Help

I barely ever played AA except for in Arcade cuz it easier there but now i got the TOR-M1 and don’t get it. Got LOS, LEAD and Auto. Auto seems best Choice so far but everytime i lock onto any Plane they immediately do evasive maneuvres making it almost impossible to hit them at all. its also no fun at all to have to guide the dumb missile with your mouse trying to keep it in front of the jet when with other SPAA you have fire and forget missiles.

And i don’t get the Command Overview you have for Radar like on the C+R Keybind, it says you can fire from there but it never does whether i play TOR-M1 and tried with earlier PGZ too it never fires. i can only click on some planes and it shows me them but i cant fire from the view and when i get out of the Radar Overview its not locked onto the target either

because radar lock triggers RWR. to not trigger RWR radar lock alert, you would need to use passive means, such as optical or IRST.

Im seeing at wiki that TOR-M1 gets TV track, so you might wanna look up keybinds to switch to it.

do note that TV track can be affected by weather and clouds, so its a trade off.

And some RWRs might still be able to pick up the missile guidance signal.

And, some planes are equipped with MAW, which doesnt detect the guidance at all but rather incoming missile itself.

yeah but those FnF SPAAs are either IRs like Ozelot or SANTAL, which have much smaller range

or

they sit at 12.0.

11.3/11.7 SACLOS guidance is pretty much standart.

I personally never bother with the new SPAA UI unless im playing SLM, because its simply faster to accquire the target by hand, and I can lead the missile better.

I’ve never used the Tor, but the HQ-17 instead and it’s probably close enough.

As far as evasion goes, most RWRs you’ll encounter are fully able to identify any action you are taking, including firing from IRST since the missile still needs to receive commands, you won’t ever get a fully stealth launch.
The reality of SACLOS AA is that if your target isn’t a little cooperative you’ll never kill them.

That said, the Tor is still looking fairly capable, and that brings us to the management screen.
When you target from the management screen, the parasite movements from your mouse are smoothed out of the guidance giving you far more reliable tracking.
As far as operating from the command screen, you can simply click directly on any command line at the bottom of the screen instead of relying on the shortcuts since they might be different from your actual keys assigned to the actions. In my case, I use LMB to fire usually, but in the control screen it’s RMB.
On the right you have your target list, and at the top right of that window you can choose what to filter out of your radar so as to not clutter it out. Annoyingly, you have to do it at the start of every match.
You can also sort your targets by different parameters such as distance, height, or speed by clicking on the corresponding letter at the top of the target list.

For the targeting mode, keeping it on “Auto” or “LOS” is indeed generally good enough since “Lead” is to be exclusively used on targets that are fast and keep a consistent heading, AFK people if you will.

Both the Tor and HQ-17 are theoretically capable of simultaneously engaging two targets, but in practice it’s so finnicky that I’ve never gotten it to work reliably.
Also some high tier AA radars are currently barely working, I know for sure it affects both the HQ-17 and Pantsir, the Tor might be okay since it’s not a PESA, but it’s good to keep in mind.

All in all, AA duty is an unrewarding acquired taste, with to my knowledge almost no ressources to learn from. If you’re not in it for specific reasons, and just want to defend your team, CAP is the way to go.

Had to ask the machine Spirit for like half of your Text lol but yeah when i play again im going to look up the ‘Television’ Stuff cuz im mainly struggling to manually aim those Missile or rather keeping them / in front of the Plane especially when they immediatelly pull out insane maneuvres, instantly know where im at even when im out of Spawn and then im dead before i know it

where do i find the Television Keybind? cant find anything. the switch guidance method keybind also only switches between los/lead/auto like it is by default set

and it sucks in RB but i have it in my 12BR line up maybe thats why but i dont like it

Try “switch between radar/IRST” or something like that

Well thats probably the reason.

Planes get RWR warning when you lock them. Some will react to it. It can be mitigated with TV/IR track, but the rest of things mentioned, not. Most planes get launch warning when you fire the missile so they will react for sure. Some get MAWs, and this also means they will react.

While in manual control, you can fire the missile freely, but the radar screen is not you, it does not know what to do without a lock, so you need to lock a target in order to fire, either by double clicking it on the target list, or using lock keybind. The system is not as smart as you, it needs the data from the game.

I’ve not played it myself so can’t really give any tips, but what other say here makes sense logically.

I do however want to point out that you’re bringing an 11.3 anti air into 12.0 matches that often gets up tiered into higher BR’s as many players bring 13.0 (ground BR for the 14.0-14.3 Air) planes in their lineups so it’s no wonder you’re having issues at those BR’s.

If u fire from tha radar screen on lead modes the missile goes full fox 1
I do it with lantsir and its insane

Doesn’t work. No matter if i lock onto Target before going into Command Screen i can’t fire, if i double click on an enemy in the list it doesnt do anything and i have my target lock on MB5 but doesnt do anything either if i click with that, if i click fire or switch keybind doesnt do anything.

Can you record it?
