It is simply a stupid game mechanic that has no place in tier 7 and below. People complain about CAS being overpowered, so there are SPAA that could put a stop to it, but the developers insist on making SPAA more vulnerable than they already are…logic?
The FCS module is also too vast in its scope because in real life lots of tanks has backup trigger to fire, and if a single 20mm landed on my targeting sccreen I shouldn’t be disabled from firing my guns, because I can just look up in the backup sight or the periscopes.
Not removed, just modeled differently to the way they work IRL (the FCS automatically targets and fires when it’s in range)

Depending on the era and nation, it may automatically knock down allies with some chance?
Considering most radar systems quickly advanced to have IFF, highly unlikely. In a different regard, a system like the M163 which would only give ranging and leading solutions, would be a different story. However, in a similar regard, a system that could would be the VEAK 40, which had auto tracking but no IFF system IIRC.
Obviously the player still has to choose the target for the radar to lock and track. Compared to something like a Gepard, which will show who is friend and foe, so it’s not filtering and saving data like a true modern radar system does like completely leaving out targets that are friendly. Newer systems like the gepard and ItPsV have the ability to do this.
Essentially though, no. In no sense should that happen, if it does, it’s user error. The lock and auto-tracking is separate from the actual firing which is still crew controlled, locking a friendly and firing is done by the human pulling the trigger. The computer save binary data, not a conscience.
Yeah and might as well remove spaa from the tech trees and have them be bots that you spawn with SP at this point…
The FCS module shouldn’t just instantly disable the ability to fire the guns, unless it’s also done for all MBTs with the module added.
Shouldn’t have one class get handheld while the others are punished.
