Each Soyuz salvo has the same penetration, with faster reload and TWICE as much TNT equivalent per shell and salvo. The armor is also significantly thicker and with more optimal array.
Iowa is the second best Battleship, yes- but Soyuz still clowns on her.
For firepower I assess two ships as identical or Soyuz little bit better.
For reload, one seconds difference is not big, especially as both guns are around 30 seconds reload.
For AP’s explosive, don’t think it makes much difference as both shells are enough to one tap enemy module.
For ballistic, I’ll prefer Iowa as accuracy is better, and higher trajectory means it is more useful in close range. I have no problem hitting underwater in Iowa unless it’s 2 km close(where actually you can’t aim properly), in Soyuz I’ve suffer even from 5 km.
For protection wise, defnitely better for Soyuz, as it’s bow in is invincible. But Iowa also has strong point in protection with more crews and lower citadel(if you empty upper shell room)
For mobility Iowa is defnitely superior, especially in turning Soyuz is almost at standard level.
So, for me, Soyuz >> Iowa >>>>>> Richelieu >>>>>>> Yamato and others.
as for if they were capable to finish it or not and how big their capabilities were that for sure is up to debate, but for whether the ship should be in game or not that doesnt matter at all does it? snail decided they gonna put laid down ships in the game and so they did. in multiple nations.
Would that have given them the opportunity to actually put it in game in a balanced state (cause most if not all of its specs were not final and could have been adjusted to actually create a somewhat balanced top tier naval)? Yes. And somehow, which is kinda mindboggling, they decided to put it in game in this state. For me theres pretty clear consequences to take from this mess. I spaded my yamato, cya naval rb you absolute abomination of a gamemode. Let soyuz shoot at soyuz and iowa shoot at iowa spawning right in each others faces together with 20 bots that all go where they want in one giant floating metal scrapyard while the match is decided by funni guy #12 in a pt boat in 5 minutes. if thats what the snail wants i see zero reason to play it.
12-15km is still a bit short of a distance for effective plunging fire impact angle, which is much different than the visual impact angle of the trajectory of the shell for some reason idk, you would need to get to 18+km to have enough impact angle for effective plunging fire in this game, in Poltava case, you dont even need plunging fire, just shoot at her rearmost turret elevator and she will explode from magazine detonation since this is the magazine closest to the waterline and the internal armour is almost nonexistent to stop shrapnel from shell with decent tnt yield
Nah just nerf it to the bottom where it belongs will do. Also N3 Class battleship was not layed down nor had any parts made specifically for it so it cant be added. I dont think that adding more imaginary stuff is gonna fix anything.
Seems the 18”/45 was probably started just never finished and was eventually cancelled.
It was ordered, and I’m informed there’s a document which might contain information about which variant of the design was ordered and how much work had been done.
Actually only 30% of armor plates in 1939 were defected, and even those which ones rejected were better quality than Krupp standards of quality armor plates.
