INSTALLATION
1. Find the “config.blk” file in your warthunder folder.
2. Open “config.blk” with notepad and find “sound{ }” in the “config.blk”.
3. Under “sound{ }” add these line: “enable_mod:b=yes”
4. Now find the sound folder and make a new folder and call it “mod”.
5. Download a soundmod and drop the files in the newly created “mod” folder.

You’ll know if the first 3 lines are done correctly as it will state in top left corner “Sound modification enabled” once you are in game.

If you still don’t have sound then make sure that the files you downloaded, are extracted from the zip file into mods folder which is located inside the main sound folder in War Thunder directory.

I only use part of the RCSM sounds ingame as I find them a bit to much and actually overpower my ability to hear everything. You pick and choose files, either all or some depending on your preference.

Well i dont see the option in the launcher to enable the sound in general,and yes i followed all those steps correctly

Personally I would recommend IWSM now known as OPEX. More immersive with a larger scale overhaul and more vehicles affected. Sound also feels less “flat”. Just make sure to keep the files up to date, especially with new releases so your sounds don’t “break”.

Using any other mods that could be causing conflict? If you are I would try and clear the /mod folder and copy the files over again.

There is no option in launcher. It just displays the sound modification enabled right below the battle and players online portion on the main in-game screen.

I only use the aircraft engine portions. I’ve tried others but find the RSCM version to be what I personally enjoy.

I do not see that in the setting, I only see the first sound I dont see the custom sound mod one

Yes. the ““speakerMode:t=“stereo””” is your default speaker mode found in settings, the rest enables mod.

EDIT : I see your name shows Xbox account? Are you trying on PC or Xbox? If on console it won’t work as console does not have mod support.

Hi, I see that you are an expert, so maybe you can advise me. Where can I find a file or text where I could increase the engine sound on airplanes? The sound is ok on tanks and helicopters, but it is very quiet on airplanes. Thank you for your advice and help.

I can only provide you with the information on how to do it, as it is not something I do. I only download them from the mod maker and install them>

i see the indication that its on there but i only have the vanilla sounds

Ensure the custom sound setting is set to yes. If that doesn’t work, no idea as everything to make it work is in this topic.
