For a couple years now, I’ve been pretty much just dealing with the fact that sound barely plays through my headset in War Thunder, and only in War Thunder. Sound drivers updated, headset drivers updated, computer updated, and still the tech support crew at Gaijin seems to think this is a problem with my computer despite the fact that War Thunder is literally the only thing on my computer that can’t seem to put sound through my headset. Are there any known fixes to this, or maybe at least a mod that’ll fix it?
I’ve personally had issues with conflicting sounds settings in War thunder, if i have the wrong stereo/5.1/7.1 setting and/or have surround sound turned on or off in both windows and/or audio software i get way lower volume in general as well as zero sound straight in front of me and straight behind me.
It took some playing around with all the available surround sound settings in several different places until i found a setting that worked. My first tip is to check the windows surround sound setting if that is available to you and change it to the opposite of what it currently is and see if that changes anything.

It was on Stereo until today, then I set it to auto. Maybe I should try the 5.1 and 7.1. Didn’t wanna try those today, but even that is quicker than however long it might take to fix the game, haha.
Testing the 5.1 might be worth a try, but do also check the windows built in surround sound options by right clicking the speaker icon in the windows tray → “sound settings” → “more sounds settings” → right click your headphones in the list → “properties” → “spatial sound” tab → change the setting to the opposite of what it currently is and test how that sounds in the game.
This could be part of it, but that Windows Sonic thing wasn’t working when I noticed it today, even though it showed drivers up to date, so I uninstalled it. Maybe I could try reinstalling, just in case. And I probably wanna set in-game to 7.1, as my headset is the HyperX Cloud Stinger Core Wireless 7.1.
