I have no idea man.
Ahh alright, makes more sense then.
Then explain why the Apaches don’t have their cockpit yet? Literally the most widespread attack helicopter in the world and in game. There is no doubt more source material for its cockpit than the Ka50 and 52 combined
Dunno, maybe it’s much more expensive to get license for Apache cockpit
I’m about 100% sure you do not need a license to model these things. This is the Panavia Tornado myth all over again.
I know that Tornado mostly busted this myth but in case of Apache it took GJ almost 6 moths more to implement it than Mi-28 or Ka-50
Is that because of “licensing” or just because Gaijin themselves had delays in adding it?
I’ve always heard of “licensing” getting in the way, but honestly i’ve never even seen proof that companies need to pay licenses for this kind of shit.
Probably depends on the age, company, country, etc. I can see why they may need to for newer stuff but maybe not for older stuff. But more likely just working on soviet stuff first. Same way FRS1 took 9 months to get the right cockpit
Guarantee it’s that development considerations are elsewhere.
It’s why Rooivalk has a blurry cockpit, AH64 has one, some bombers look like Roblox models, it’s just that they focus elsewhere and in this case: they’ve focussed on USSR
…again.
No licensing required for that
don’t remind me of my dear precious Sunderland and it’s cockpit that looks like it’s a map from the original Doom
The nation of a vehicle has no relation to its likelihood to get a cockpit really.
The FRS.1 in particular is very tricky to get solid references on the cockpit. Mostly because all FRS.1s were converted to FA.2 and thus very few survive to collect materials from and even fewer with accessible cockpits.
Sometimes the choice can be delaying a vehicle in some causes months, if not years or simply giving it a placeholder cockpit from a similar family variant whilst we can properly gather what we need to make the cockpit.
The FRS.1 in particular was a very tricky cockpit that took a lot of resources, time and effort to create accurately.
So its nothing to do with it “not being a priority”, but actually available material and examples.
That may explain the cockpit, but what about the radar? Community sourced and provided all of that within weeks. (Most provided by tech mods) we saw the Tornado F3 get 3 very different radars in the same time it took the FRS1 to go from highly unrealistic placeholder radar to getting its correct radar. The only logical explanation for that was that it was low priority.
I find it pretty sad that they can sell premium helicopters like Rooivalk and yet it doesn’t even have a cockpit that doesn’t look like someone went over the texture with a smudge tool
These two factors are entirely not connected.
Regarding the radar, some required information to properly configure the radar was still missing initially. Sources we gathered both from reports and staff input, which meant with the arrival of the new FRS.1 and the cockpit model, the finalization of the radar tuning could also be completed along with it.
Will we see much in the way of addressing Challenger 2 this update, Smin? Plenty of evidence now to strongly support changing the current implimentation without giant overhauls or large amounts of work for the team
Still a shame that it took 9 months for this iconic British aircraft to be finished. Has been essentially unplayable for anyone in the SB community and yet we have seen many, much bigger additions come for many other nations. At least it does breath some hope the FA2 might be playable upon release and that hopefully it will be soon. But a lot of recent British vehicles are in dire need of some TLC, very few are even close to what id consider a “finished” state.
Honestly, I get it.
Sea harrier FRS.1 is a pretty obscure aircraft in reality, and getting your hands on information and photos of its internals that you can 100% say are the original FRS.1 layout must be a bitch
Yeah, but still a big shame
There is nothing currently in this major update for Challenger 2.
Darn. Good to hear 2E will now look correct, though the changes like TES having the same armor values as 2F, ammo being in impossible places, lack of wet ammo bin modelling, all stuff that can be super easily fixed.
Better luck next update I hope!
Edit - am I going insane and imagine Smin talking about 2E?? Lmao
