I’d argue that Gaijin has easier access to Russian sources than to western ones.
Additionally T-80 later T-72s and T-90 have rather good armour irl, so much so that NATO has called for larger calibres but especially new ammunition types for a logn time. One reason why the L55 exists.
As far as I knowAbrams can not mount a larger cannon due to spacila issues with the turret.
T-80U has better base armour below the kontakt 5 which is actually the case in game if i’m not mistaken.
Challenger 2 also simply has less ideal armour coverage.
A bigger issue
Some information regarding the armour placement on Challenger 2 was leaked but was classified…
That is not a Gaijin issue.
A bigger issue is perhaps post pen damage limited by overperforming plates in the tank which are thicker than they are supposed to be as well as ERA sideskirts that are overperforming.
As I understand there has been a lot of back and forth these two topics.

It’s cool, only now, there were no Tiger and Panther in Hungary, they roughly speaking used German ones with German markings and crew
