They just posted this image of a parody GTA VI poster… that features a NEW Paxman Ricardo V12 on a engine stand. And its a Modern picture.

Considering TOGs original engine has long been seized. i wonder if this is the first step in fixing the beast.
a chance to see that big beast move under its own power, that would be a true dream come true.
They would 100% have to get Mighty Jingles there to drive it.
the tracks are also a total loss as far as running the vehicle and most of the internal electronics are rotten beyond use.
if they are planning on rebuilding TOG it will end up as a ship of theseus
I mean the 4005 was too.
All that was left was a heavily rusted turret that needed alot of metal replaced.
TOG needs a new Drivetrain, Some fresh track links cast for it (which could be replicast pretty easily off the surviving link), and some fresh metal work in the engine bay to fix the Rot from it sitting outside.
it wouldn’t be impossible, Look at what has been done to some of the other tanks out there that have been restored from range wrecks and such.
I get TOG is unique, But i think its Unique-ness is justification for FULL restoration. The Tortoise, and Black Prince both are Runners (even if the Black prince has a toast transmission that needs work), it would be great to see the heaviest of the WW2’s Brits move under its own power.
meh yes and no.
4005 had a turret and gun still remaining. only thing missing was a horizontal drive and a generic mk3 hull to sit it on (as well as a panthers gunsight). 4005 was never more than a turret ona mk3 hull
TOG will probably need so many new parts to get its electric drive system functional that its just a shell with modern kit inside
shells with new parts. cool but hardly original
The period parts exist though.
TOG was built MOSTLY with Diesel Electric railroad Locomotive Components.
The Paxman Ricardo V12 that was in the TOG was directly pulled from a early Diesel Electric Loco. And the Electric motors were effectively Locomotive Traction motors with some modifications.
There are STILL Locomotives of that age running in the modern day, Mostly in preservation, but parts exist.
If it could atleast be done with Period components it would be very acceptable.
