Background and History
The Prinz Adalbert was a German armored cruiser (Großer Kreuzer) of the Imperial German Navy, named after Prince Adalbert of Prussia. She was the lead and nameship of the “Prinz-Adalbert Class”.
She only had one sister ship called Friedrich Carl.
Construction began at the Imperial Shipyard in Kiel in April 1900. The ship was launched on 22 June 1901 and commissioned on 12 January 1904, at a cost of 16.371 million marks. She was originally intended as a replacement for the older König Wilhelm, while Friedrich Carl was an additional new construction.The two cruisers were broadly similar to the earlier Prinz Heinrich, but had three funnels and a stronger main battery. Instead of two 24 cm guns, they carried four 21 cm quick-firing guns in two twin turrets, giving them a significantly higher rate of fire. They also had ten secondary guns mounted in casemates, although these were of limited usefulness in rough seas.
Overall, the Prinz Adalbert was a well-designed cruiser with good handling and seakeeping qualities.Military service
Peacetime Service:
After entering service on 12 January 1904, Prinz Adalbert initially served primarily as an artillery training vessel.
One notable peacetime deployment occurred in 1906, when Prinz Adalbert travelled to Norway in connection with Prince Heinrich of Prussia’s visit to Trondheim for the coronation of King Haakon VII.
In 1909, the ship was assigned to the III Scouting Group as its flagship

Initially, she was associated with the reconnaissance forces of the High Seas Fleet.
One of her early wartime tasks involved missions in the Baltic Sea, for example in end of August 1914, Prinz Adalbert being sent as aid for the stranded Small cruiser “Magdeburg” but got ordered back after recieving the news of the Magdeburg being scuttled.
After that She moved to the North Sea on 7th September 1914 and participated in the bombardment of British coastal towns until she returned to port mid-november 1914.
Her north sea service was relativly short, because Prinz Adalbert was ordered to move to the Baltic Sea after her sister ship sunk on the 17th Novemeber 1914 when she ran on two russian mines.In January 1915, Prinz Adalbert participated in a reconnaissance and bombardment operation toward the Baltic approaches and Libau. During the operation she ran aground near Steinort. She was eventually refloated and returned for repairs
The most important combat incident of Prinz Adalbert’s career before her final mission occurred in July 1915.
A German naval force was conducting a minelaying operation in the central Baltic when Russian cruisers intervened. The German minelayer Albatross was badly damaged and eventually forced onto the coast of the Swedish island of Gotland. Other German vessels, including Roon,Augsburg&Lübeck became involved in the engagement. (Gotland-Raid if you want to read more about that engagement)
Prinz Adalbert and the armored cruiser Prinz Heinrich were dispatched to support the German forces.
However, while Prinz Adalbert was steaming toward the area, she encountered the British submarine HMS E9. An fired torpedo struck the German cruiser and caused severe damage, including extensive flooding. The damage was serious but she still managed to be afloat, so Prinz Adalbert returned to the 295sm away port of Kiel (she traveled 240sm in reverse!), where she got repaired.On the morning of 23 October 1915, Prinz Adalbert left the area of Libau accompanied by two German destroyers.
Approximately 20 nautical miles west of Libau, the German cruiser was intercepted by the British submarine HMS E8.
The attack was devastating.
E8 fired a torpedo at Prinz Adalbert from a range of approximately 1,200–1,300 metres. The torpedo struck the forward part of the ship and detonated her ammunition magazine in her forebody.
The resulting explosion was catastrophic.The armored cruiser was essentially blown apart and sank immediately.
Of the approximately 675 men aboard, only three survived.

[justify] The Prinz Adalbert would definitly be a great addition to the game, she would make a big step introducing more lighter units from the Imperial German Navy, and finally add another lighter unit aside SMS Elbing.
Since my guess is that she would be placed around ~5.3-5.7 she would slowly introduce the playstyle of slower but more heavily armed units which will follow at 6.0 with the SMS Westfalen & Von der Tann making her, with her armament aswell, more or less an introduction to Battleship Warfare and not continuing the hard cut between Heavy WW2 Heavy Cruisers and WW1 Battleships [
