To further expand China‘s lackluster decal section I propose this unique decal.
China during the 1930s was a huge mess, a conflict-heavy, poverty plagued, fragmented country. One of the breakaway states at that time was the Province of Xinjiang under the leadership of Sheng Shicai which had close ties with the Soviet Union enjoying its role as a Soviet protectorate and as such created a safe place for the Chinese Communist Party to thrive in. Keep in mind that during this time, the CCP was clashing with the Kuomintang.
A military academy was established in 1937 in Urumqi which got expanded with an aviation program in 1938 thanks to the supply of a couple U-2 and R-5 planes destined to train future CCP pilots.
In 1941 it was supplanted with a couple Polikarpov I-16 & I-15s. The next year Sheng shifted to a closer alliance with the KMT leading to the arrest of the entire CCP affiliated military aviation personnel.
Now there are many representations of this decal with the star which in this case does not stand for Judaism, but for Sheng Shicai’s 6 Great policies which are the following: anti-imperialism, friendship with the Soviet Union, racial and national equality, clean government, peace and reconstruction, most commonly being interpreted as white though there’s also the likelihood of it being red or even yellow taken from the Xinjiang Clique flag.
