Silver Lions for new Players

Converting GE to SL is possibly the worst way of spending money in this game , next to using GE to get TT vehicles.
A low-medium tier premium thats well picked is a much better money maker.
High tier premium works too but personally im opposed to skipping straight to the top , as that leads to inexperienced players in areas where experience is mandatory to avoid frustration.

TL:DR
Infernal grind basically requires money so you dont go insane (at least on ground, air is slightly better)

Unless your willing to spend some time to build up a war chest of SL, if you keep moving up in the grind, you’ll never get ahead. At least with premium you’ll never be negative in a game.

As the madseventeen said, wait for their sales and pick up a premium account for cheap.

Well, firstly, tone down the language, both the game and the forum are 12+ and the rules are set thereafter.

The best way to earn SL is to play arcade, it earns more SL and repairs cost less SL. Downside being that you get less RP and so you progress slower (but it’s a great way for beginners to learn some of the basics and tips and tricks). Then you can go back to Realistic and/or Simulator to earn more RP and progress faster while gaining less SL (but hopefully more than before now that you have learnt more).

Additionally higher BR vehicles also cost more SL to repair so it gets harder and harder to have good economy the further up you climb. A good tip is to not try to add new high BR vehicles to your lineup as soon as you get them because then the match (and all vehicles you face) will be that max BR and you still have lower BR vehicles to fight with. I personally wait until i have like 3-4 vehicles of the higher BR unlocked and then switch out several at the same time.

It take time to understand the game. And also you can play Naval as well they gave a huge amount of SL however they don’t gave a lot of RP. I recommend you just play Bluewater fleet. It took me about 8 month to get top tier in USSR. So take your time. Rushing will make the gameplay harder. Enjoy it.

Biggest tip for ARB on SL:

DO NOT EJECT/LEAVE PLANE/J OUT.

If you do, the game charges you the FULL repair cost.

Instead, as illogical as it sounds, let your plane crash. This will only charge you for the time you had spent alive.

Exception: If your tail has been cut off, you are free to eject/bail.

This will make the difference for paying 1000-4000 SL per flyout in something like the F4U-4B where you died earlier versus the full 8000 or however much it demands for full repair.

If you want to play ASB:

Stick to Rank 3 planes. Rank 4 planes can get stupid expensive (F4U-4B costs 11k while F4U-4 costs 4K). Rank 5 are unaffordable without premium account or cheesy gameplay. Rank 6 it gets better, but you need a buffer.

GRB:

Yak-9K/Yak-9UT as soviets can make a decent SL farm when used as CAS. It’s also pretty toxic, but it works.

Thanks all.

I’m absolutely NOT used to getting this kind of responce, to a post “bishing” (Moderating my language) about the cons of a game. Forums are usually dead, or full of people thinking the same thing i do.

I appreciate the feedback. So, thanks.

RunaDacino : You have NO idea, how often i’ve “J’ed” out. I mean, in certain aspects of the game, i think that’s the button i use the most.
Especially in dailies. The aimboats of the NPCs are oft-times so ridicules, that it’s not even funny. You’re across the map. There are 3-4 teammates 20 meter from him, filling him with lead, while i go off chasing another that never left spawn. Only to get a projectile rammed up my rear (Yes, still trying to moderate)… Then i lose driver, and / or engine. I’m stuck. I repair. GREAT… 45 f*cking seconds…

“J” is just 3 seconds, and i’m back in the fight. - And for anyone who thinks that’s stOOpid. Then yea, but i’m also the type of person, that does not leave my team. Out of commision for 45 seconds, is realistic, yea… But a LONG time… If several people suffer from this, on the team, the NPCs win…

And is the objective not to WIN ???

Nah I disagree more like Rank 7 that where things start to get hard.

Using wagers will help a lot for non-premium players, and some wagers are way too hard, so just recycle them and hope for better boosters or wagers.

And in here achievement if you complete all of them to top tier you get 500K in rewards for each nation, except for naval. so I earned 1.5Million so far for the last Level.

Recycle them??? :O

Didn’t know that was an option? How do you do that? And what do i get in return ??

You can look at the stat card for the vehicle and you can see how much SL it costs per minute played and the max total cost it can be. When you J-out it automatically becomes max cost.

in the inventory there is a tab called “recycle”, you get a random item for every 2 you recycle. A little more details here: ( CM Covert Disclosures No.5: Major Update Prologue )

When you recycle 2 items they get “saved” as unused recycled items that you then at the bottom have to select and convert to a new usable item.

Cheers.

I had no idea, about the cost after J’ing out ?
Would’ve been good to know in advance…

Cheers for the intel on recycle. ;) Appreciate it. <3

Many don’t, i thought it was a bug at first when they introduced the time based repair costs like 2 years ago (before that it was always max no matter what) but it’s apparently working as intended. It’s likely there to discourage J-out abuse (IRL the crew would try to survive as long as they could so).

Well, it does make sense, in a realistic optic, i guess. And i can totally understand that…

However, my point of view is, that - WT is a game, that works best as a “team effort”. Right? No army, is stronger than it’s weakest link. And given, that in most game types, you have multiple lives… So, it would make sense, to get back into the fight, as soon as you can. For instance… If i play as a Bomber, and some useless I-15 comes up and lights my engines on fire, at 7000 ft… There’s no way, i’d wait 2 minutes before i crash. If i can see, my plane’s going down and there’s no saving it… Realistic or not… There’s no way, i’d sacrifice my crew, for the satisfaction of Gaijin, nor would i waste precious time, while i could be back in the fight in my Me109 hunting that damn I-15, before he jumps another teammate…

See my point here?

I get why they did it, now that i know about it… And the more i think about it, the more ridicules it seems.

In “Realistic” it makes sense. In all other game modes… Not so much…

You need to get better at the game - this requires some experience, research and patience. SL income is just a byproduct of successful game play. As soon at you get higher in Ranks your SL problem turns into an RP problem.

The easiest advise:
Save up your war bonds and buy a premium vehicle for free with WB which looks best suited to fit to your play style.

The problem is:
You have no Rank III vehicle which allows you to get any significant progress in the BP rounds (in order to unlock the necessary shop levels) as for Special tasks (5 points), BP challenges (30 points) or 2nd stage daily tasks (3 points) you need a Rank III vehicle.

If you fly in Air RB for USSR/US/GER/UK/JP/Italy/SWE & France - this looks like too much and does not allow you to get better and to progress.

I recommend you to focus on easy to use aircraft which allows you earn XP to level up your crew slots (crew skills are a main & decisive factor - as a side effect you live longer and learn how to play.

My recommendations for easy to use (just basic skills required) aircraft for Rank II & III (lowest BRs):

  • USSR: Yak-1B (II) and I-185 M-82 (III)
  • US: P-39 N-O (II) and P-63 A-5 (III)
  • GER: C-3604 (II) and nothing at Rank III (imho all overtiered)
  • UK: Typhoon Ia (II) and Firefly Mk I (III)
  • JP: Ki-44-I (II) and B7A2 (III)
  • Italy: Imho all aircraft overtiered
  • SWE: B-239 (II) and (maybe) B-18B (III)
  • France: Potez 630 (II) and (with good aim) MB 152 (III)

Have a good one!

Edit:

Almost forgot that - if you focus on one nation gaijin is at lower ranks quite generous with free crates after rather good matches. In 2022 i played 4 weeks nothing else that SWE and received 4 (!!!) talismans, a hell of free boosters and a 1 million SL crate - all within 2 weeks 😎

Yep, i have also personally made the same argument for planes, it makes more sense for the pilot to jump out and save themselves compared to sitting in the plane when it hits the ground…

But not much we can do about it other than perhaps at best create a suggestion in the hopes that it gets sent to the developers later on.

Funny you should mention Talismans…

Thanks for an elaborate post. Gave me some insight… To bad it can’t do much for my skill issues… :P

But i was looking at what planes i have Talismans for, and noticed i had 2 for Germany. For 1.3 BR and a 2.0 BR. Flew one mission with them, and got a crate, that gave me another for a 3.0 BR.

It’s nice, i guess. But does a vehicle with a talisman, garner more SL, or is it just for RP?

But in terms of warbonds. I do have a little saved up… Doesn’t it require more than the warbonds, to get something ? Isn’t it just the “Blueprint” you purchase ?

Only RP. It does however double it so in Arcade you are suddenly gaining a reasonable amount of RP while also gaining more SL compared to Realistic.

The blueprint is the vehicle :) You unlock the vehicle immediately once you get the blueprint (compared to a vehicle coupon that lands in your inventory and can in some cases be upgraded and sold on the market for GJN coin, the battle pass for example give coupons instead of blueprints)

Academy section is there to help - NP.

Technically seen there are no such things like skill issues. WT is no rocket science - it boils down what you want to invest (in this case time) for forum searches or watching guides on yt.

Skill in the classic sense is product of learning speed, time and cognitive abilities to transform experience into applicable skill.

You need the required shop levels and a certain amount of medals which are granted by fulfilling of so called Special Tasks.

But for Special Tasks you need a Rank III plane - that’s why you need as rookie a Rank III aircraft at the lowest possible BR.

That’s why i focussed on lowest BRs and easy to use😎

I can’t agree with that.
I just had a tank battle with my friend. Both matches we just had, our team got their asses handed to them, to the point, we couldn’t even get out of spawn.
Skill? Hell, i take my rank 3 russian tank destroyer. Shoot at a light, AND a medium german Pz… I only DENT them. They fire back, at my front. First shot. Driver AND gunner dead.

Then the second fire, 2 seconds later… Instant fire ball… I don’t have a full tank of ammo, but none the less… Boom…
Light tank, i hit square in the tracks, from the side. The Medium i hit in the turret, at the bottom.
I can understand the medium surviving… But the light?

And that’s not even a rare occurance… That’s actually 4 out of 5 encounters for me…

For me i have grinded out all of us air, helicopters, and nearly all of the tanks. I used premium time. I could barely do anything without it. Id reccomend you to buy some so you can avoid the pain and suffering.

And no im not a gaijin bot 🥀

Which actually illustrates his point. Your lack of experience got you into a situation where you not only lost the engagement, you had zero chance of succeeding (surviving, racking up points, etc).
Also;
You can’t do anything about a poor relative team getting steamrolled or “getting Gaijined”. Its just the nature of the game. The Snail giveith and takeith away.
