Shouldn't we add the battleship Montana to compete with the battleship Yamato?

Still waiting for super yamato would be great event ship.
it’s copy past with 510mm guns

You mean free money and rp for a kill?

It wouldn’t necessarily fix them, but it would fill a gap that will be clear later on, with the Soyuz being a clear winner, and with fixing the Yamato’s poorly modeled armour, they will be able to easily deal with the Iowa while the Montana is a more contemporary design with them. The Iowa was designed more as a battlecruiser than a battleship. That and I think it would be unfair to not put them in the game when they were named, which is more than can be said for the A150’s and even the last 2 Yamato class ships.

you’ve got a strong victory for hope against experience there - you assume that there would be no similar discrepancies in its own modelling - which isn’t something I’d bet $1 on!!

Never were. Battlecruiser and Battleships are distinguished more by their role on fleet, not by armour or speed.

And Iowa classes were pure battleship purpose. Their high speed is needed for fleet flagship and state of 28 knots battleships that limit overall fleet’s manuverability.

This is also the reason why Montana class’ development were halted at very early stage of war, as their manuverability is unsatisfactory for fleet(Of course, shipyard shortage was problem too))

It won’t be changed much. Some holes can be filled, but hexagonal weakness and magazine’s position won’t be changed.

Besides, current Yamato’s armour is actually buffed as it has same 1.1 RHAe with USA/GER/BRIT armour. It should be like 1.05

I don’t have Yamato yet, but I usually 1shot Yamato and Bismarck with my USS Iowa.
Only problem for Iowa is the S. Soyuz, and because it is russian bias fairytale ship, since it never entered service in rl, would be fair to add Montana class.
But its fun to do battle with the Soyuz, you just need to know where to hit them.

Issue there is that Soyuz was actually laid down to 21% completion, and the Montana’s were cancelled before they even had enough guns for a single ship.

As I stated before in this thread (iirc), I don’t understand why people keep assuming Soyuz is “just another Soviet fantasy”, it is actually a real steel ship that fits Gaijin’s criteria without any shenanigans. Just to prove my point, here are some pictures.

Ain’t ships supposed to float? I highly doubt that this would float. Jokes aside, as you said, yes it did exist and yes parts of it were built, as was discussed numerous times; a lot of it was in limbo and they had serious trouble getting certain specs of it to the quality they were aiming for…Anyways it fits gaijins criteria for the addition of a ship, as does any other laid down ship.

For lots of people the way in which it was and is implemented is a much bigger problem than it being here. So in a way big parts of it actually are fantasy…79% of it to be precise…

they assume everything went pretty much perfectly during production when other large soviet ships from the time show the Soyuz would almost certainly have had some issues and drawbacks if they did keep sinking money and resources into it
